Marissa Ault embodies what it means to be an Ephrata Mountaineer.
The senior keeps a tight schedule juggling the multitude of clubs she’s in including Aevidum, Gears, Friends of Rachel, and the National Honors Society (NHS).
Previously, Ault was recognized as student of the month by the Lions Club. Her family was invited to attend a dinner where she was recognized for her accomplishments.
However, Ault’s biggest accomplishment to date has been receiving a letter from the state representative of Pennsylvania congratulating her for all of her hard work.
Ault enjoys volunteering and does so quite often through an organization known as Gigi’s Playhouse. The group specializes in assisting adults and children with Down syndrome with their education, physical activity, and life skills. She learned about the organization through her younger brother who has Down syndrome and attends Gigi’s Playhouse.
In keeping active in the community, Ault and her family attend LCBC. Devoted to her beliefs, Ault also attends the high school ministry on Wednesday nights.
Additionally, she has kept active by playing softball for the past four years.
In her free time, Ault enjoys relaxing by reading or watching some of her favorite shows with her sisters. They can be described as a close-knit bunch, which can be credited to their similar ages.
At school, she derives the most enjoyment from Business Math stating, “I like the business aspect of the class, but it also teaches us some stuff we need to know for the future. Mr. Smith has been such a great teacher and pushes me to be better. He always tells me he sees me doing great things after high school and explains how proud he is of everything I do. He also gives me ideas of what I might want to do as a career.”
On top of that, Ault’s friends make coming to school a positive experience for the senior. Spending their last year together has helped Ault create memories that will last a lifetime.
“I love making people laugh when they are having a bad day. I hate seeing people sad or mad, so I try my best to make their day a little better,” she beamed.
Maci Hurst
6th Grade
Maci Hurst is in 6th grade at Lititz Area Mennonite School. Her personality is friendly, funny, and active. Maci wants to honor God in what she does and how she acts. She likes L.A. because she likes writing and reading stories. “The stuff we learn is right up my alley,” she says.
Maci does track and field in the spring and enjoys playing volleyball with her cousins. Most of all, though, she enjoys playing/throwing football with her dad. Maci likes riding 4-wheelers and playing sports, but she is also a huge bookworm. She plays piano as well.
A big decision Maci has made is when she accepted Christ into her heart when she was 8 years old. Maci’s mom is one of her role models; she loves her so much, helps and encourages her through school, and helps her grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Maci also looks up to her church youth leaders, Charissa Nolt and Trisha Good, because they help her to grow in her faith by encouraging her to love others and to never give up. Her favorite verse is Isaiah 54:10 which says, “Though the mountains may be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed, declares the lord who has compassion over you.”
If Maci could change anything in today’s world, it would be to provide food for the starving children in many nations around the globe. She doesn’t like it that she has so much, and they have so little.
Maci has been on the honor roll multiple times and on the distinguished honor roll once or twice. Maci likes her school, LAMS, because she has good friends and the teachers are friendly and kind.
