VFW Post 3376 Honors Educators
Cocalico Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3376, “The Ephrata VFW,” recently held their annual Youth Scholarship Awards Banquet.
The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in the future generation. VFW Post 3376 is proud to support and honor many exceptional educators, especially those who promote patriotism as a part of their daily lesson plan. This year they recognized: Mr. Dan Ulrich, teacher at Ephrata Middle School, and Ms. Ann Stevens, first grade teacher at Akron Elementary School. Also recognized was Mr. Joshua McCracken, Fulton for people who knit and like to share the craft. This is not a class or instruction, just friendly gathering to knit and work on projects. Must bring all your own supplies. Crocheters also welcome. No registration required.

- Monday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. This Pennsylvania early literacy program is based on the national “Every Child Ready to Read” program. After hearing a story, the child and caregiver will visit different stations that will help with skills needed to start school. They will make learning FUN! Program will be held monthly. Geared for ages 3-6. Online registration begins 2 weeks prior to program.
• Spring StoryWalk®The Lititz Public Library’s spring StoryWalk® title is “Plant the Tiny Seed” by Christie Matheson. How do you make a garden grow? You will see how tiny seeds bloom into beautiful flowers. And by tapping, clapping, waving, young readers can join in the action! The StoryWalk® begins to the right of the entrance to the Lititz Public Library and moves counterclockwise around the library.
Spencer Named To Dean’s List
Ben D. Spencer, New Holland, was named to the Dean’s List (second honors) at Clark University for the fall 2022 semester. Students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors. 9
LVC MAC Academic Honor Roll
A record 150 Lebanon Valley College studentathletes have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference’s (MAC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is comprised of studentathletes who compete in a varsity-level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher.
Local students include:
• Amelia Mercado, New Holland, a graduate of Garden Spot High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at The Valley.
• Madeline Reider, Lititz, a graduate of Warwick High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College field hockey team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at The Valley.
• Hunter Deibler, Lititz, a graduate of Warwick High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College football team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in computer and data science at The Valley.
• Alexander Diedrich, Narvon, a graduate of Garden Spot High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College football team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at The Valley.

• Kyra Rishell, Lititz, a graduate of Manheim Township High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College women’s soccer team, and is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science at The Valley. Rishell achieved a perfect 4.0 for the Fall 2022 semester.
• Alyssa Yoder, Narvon, a graduate of Pequea Valley High School, is a member of the Lebanon Valley College women’s soccer team, and received a bachelor of science in business administration at The Valley.
Adamstown Library Events
Adamstown Area Library hosts a variety of free programs and events for children and adults. These programs are open to everyone, with or without a library card. The library is located at 110 West Main Street in Adamstown, next to the post office. Regular library hours are Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday
9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

• Library Closed – Friday, April 7. The library will be closed on Good Friday.
• LEGO Activity Bag Pickup – Monday, April 10, while supplies last. On the 2nd Monday of each month there will be a new LEGO® packet for you to pick up, with instructions for a special project. Starting that day, you can pick up a kit in the library foyer. 1 per family please. For ages 5-12 years.
• Drop-In STEAM –Monday, April 10, dropin from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math through games, activities, and projects with Miss Maribeth. This month: LEGO® Club (Design a garden for Earth Day) and activities (Launch an egg and Bee Bot Coding). An adult is required to accompany children under 8.
• Genealogy Group –Tuesday, April 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This group meets at the library on the second Tuesday of each month for lively discussions, research help or short talks from genealogy researcher Ken McCrea. For older students and adults.
• Craft Workshop –Thursday, April 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If you’re interested in crafting and spending time with others in a fun and relaxing atmosphere, this free workshop is for you. In April, they will make Pysanky wax resist eggs. For adults and older teens. Registration is requested.
• Teen Take and Make Packet Pickup (Puzzle Pins) – Monday, April 17, while supplies last. Get creative with their ready-to-go kits! Check here each month to see what you can learn to make with just a few simple materials, provided to you at no cost, and a few easy instructions. Supplies are limited, so stop by to claim your bag today!
• Almost Perfect Crimes – Tuesday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Join Miss Jess as they discover together “Whodunit!” Upon registration, you will receive the Zoom link and the Mini Murder Mystery
Story. Additional clues and evidence will be revealed during the meeting as they try to solve the crime together. For ages teen/adult due to some graphic content.
• Easter Egg Search – All April. Check out a book that has a beautiful paper egg inside and get a piece of candy at the circulation desk. (Ages 2-15)
• MJWK (Miss Jess wants to Know) - All month. Teens, they want your opinion! Stop in the Young Adult and Teen Graphic Novel Book Section of the library for the question of the month! With this simple voting passive program, teens can vote with a sticker dot to select their favorite. Results will be posted on their Facebook page at the end of the month. This month is “Incredible Ice Cream.”
• Farm I SPY Window Game – Stop in at the library to “spy with your little eye” all the fun things on the window. List of items changes weekly. When you finish, come inside to receive your congratulatory sticker. Also, be sure to read the story on the window next to the outside ramp. Tell the staff the answer to the question for a prize.
• Springtime Bingo – Now through Wednesday, May 31. Children’s Early Literacy Bingo (ages 3-9) and Self Care Bingo (ages 10-18). Pick up a Bingo sheet in the library and return by Wednesday, May 31 to claim your prize.
• Flag Retirement - Winter is over. Is it time to replace your faded, torn, worn American Flag? They will collect your retired flags at the library and deliver them to the Reinholds VFW, where they will retire them in proper fashion.
