On Saturday, May 6, Cocalico Valley VFW Post 3376 (the Ephrata VFW) participated in the VFW Annual Day of Service by supporting the Clear Water for Heroes Fishing Tournament at Camp Mack Boy Scout Camp in Newmanstown, and by picking up litter along the WarwickEphrata Rail Trail from Main Street in Ephrata through Akron Borough to
Millway Road in Ephrata Township.
This VFW Day of Service was born from the organization’s award-winning #StillServing campaign launched in 2020 to recognize the ongoing dedication of veterans and service members who continue to serve through service to their communities.
They received many thanks from people using the Rail Trail as they walked along the path on that beautiful day.
It is a tribute to the Public Works Departments of each of the municipalities and the citizens who use the Rail Trail that there was not much litter to be picked up. They appreciate the opportunity afforded them by all organizations.

Inaugural Woman Veterans Day
Team Jennifer Cahill Charities (TJCC), a leading organization dedicated to supporting female Veterans and ensuring their dignified final arrangements and funerals, is proud to announce the celebration of the first-ever Woman Veterans Day in Pennsylvania.
This momentous occasion will take place on Saturday, June 10 at Kissel Valley Farm from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will serve as a platform to honor the extraordinary service and sacrifice of female Veterans while raising awareness about their unique needs. House Bill 2361 designated June 12th of each year as “Woman Veterans Day” in Pennsylvania.
Female veterans have played an integral role in safeguarding the nation’s freedom and defending the principles everyone holds dear. Their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment deserve the utmost respect and gratitude. In recognition of their invaluable contributions, Team Jennifer Cahill Charities is hosting a special event that will not only pay tribute to these heroines but also shed light on the challenges they face in accessing appropriate final arrangements and funeral services.

The Woman Veterans Day event, to be held on Saturday, June 10, will feature a diverse range of activities and programs designed to celebrate the accomplishments of female Veterans and create a supportive environment to address their specific needs. One of the highlights of the event will be a courtesy luncheon provided exclusively for female Veterans, catered by Mission BBQ, as a gesture of appreciation for their service and dedication.
The courtesy luncheon by Mission BBQ will offer a delicious meal and provide an opportunity for women Veterans to connect, share stories, and celebrate their camaraderie. It will be a time to honor their achievements while recognizing the unique challenges they have faced in their military careers and beyond.
In addition to the courtesy luncheon, the Woman Veterans Day event will include:
• Inspirational speeches: Esteemed speakers, including prominent female Veterans, will share their experiences, stories of triumph, and insights on the unique struggles faced by women in the military.
• Education and resource fair: Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the various support services available to female Veterans, including assistance with preplanning and financing final arrangements. Exhibitors will provide information on healthcare, mental health resources, educational opportunities, and more.
• Networking and mentorship opportunities: Female Veterans can connect with fellow service members, professionals, and mentors from diverse backgrounds. These connections will help foster a strong support network and provide guidance for transitioning into civilian life.
