GARDEN SPOT FIRE RESCUE
SERVICE AREA: Garden Spot Fire Rescue (GSFR) was established in 2013 as the result of a merger of Liberty Fire Company and Blue Ball Fire Company. Together, the departments cover over 20 square miles, including New Holland Borough and portions of East Earl Township and Earl Township.
PERSONNEL: Over 170 active members who serve as active firefighters, auxiliary and fire police under the leadership of Fire Chief Darryl Keiser.
SERVICES PROVIDED: GSFR responds annually to over 450 calls, including general fires, vehicle accidents and vehicle fires, water and ice rescue situations, rope and high-altitude rescue, wildland fires, and general search and rescue. In addition to emergency calls and weekly training, the department engages in various community events, including traveling with Santa and the Easter Bunny through town, participating in Christmas on Main in New Holland, assisting in schools with fire prevention, as well as holding a youth Cadet Camp.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: Each year, GSFR holds an Easter Flower Sale, a Capital Fund Drive, an Operational Fund Drive, a Steak and Lobster Dinner in September, their annual SummerFest BBQ CookOff, two car cruises, and various other food and raffle fundraisers throughout the year that the community can support. The Auxiliary assists with these fundraisers and is always looking for new members.

SERVICE AREA: Stevens Fire Company provides service to an approximately 3.6 square mile area encompassing East Cocalico, West Cocalico and Ephrata Township. PERSONNEL: The department is 100% volunteer with 25 active fire personnel. In addition to the fire personnel, they have approximately 35 members that are part of the auxiliary.
SERVICES PROVIDED: Stevens Fire Company responds to about 200 calls per year, including providing mutual aid to the Cocalico area and tanker service to Lancaster, Lebanon and Berks Counties. In 2018, they added a helipad on their grounds to land medical helicopters. This allows them to assist many surrounding communities and municipalities, including approximately 75 to 80 medical helicopter transfers per year out of Ephrata WellSpan to other regional hospitals.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: The annual bingo, antique tractor pulls, Thanksgiving dinner and chicken pot pie dinner help to fund the fire company throughout the year. Auxiliary members are always needed. This group helps to raise funds, provide food and beverages at calls, and run the business side of the department.

SERVICE AREA: Bowmansville Fire Company’s first due service area covers the town of Bowmansville in the center of Brecknock Township, the entire eastern half of the Township, and 10 miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
PERSONNEL: They currently maintain a staff of 40 active volunteers under the leadership of Chief Joshua Pfeiffer.
SERVICES PROVIDED: The Fire Company responds to approximately 120 calls per year. The members log over 2,000 hours of training per year between in-house and state-certified training. They also participate in fire prevention at Brecknock Elementary School and five parochial schoolhouses, plus numerous campgrounds and church groups.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: The Bowmansville Fire Company’s annual fundraisers include a Wild Game Dinner, a chicken or oyster pie dinner, a community yard sale and their annual mail-in fund drive. In addition to supporting these fundraisers, community members can help with food prep or serving at dinners, provide refreshments at calls, or help with the mail-in fund drive.
