West earL Fire COMPanY SERVICE AREA: Brownstown and Talmage, as well as mutual aid service to surrounding communities PERSONNEL: West Earl Fire Company has been 100% volunteer since 1937. They currently have over 100 active members, led by Chief Nate Stoltzfus. SERVICES PROVIDED: West Earl Fire Company responds to over 250 calls for service each year. HOW YOU CAN HELP: The fire company is always looking for volunteers, especially first responders to help during daytime hours on weekdays. Volunteers can also help the auxiliary. This group is critical to the fire company’s fundraising, and they are always in need of extra able hands during the fundraisers. They hold an annual Quilt & Consignment Auction on the third Saturday in March, along with all-you-can-eat breakfasts in November, January and February. The auxiliary’s largest contributions include food preparation at events as well as quilting and quilt donations that are sold at the auction. All of these fundraisers help the fire company meet their yearly budget, in addition to the generous giving through donations from the community. In addition to fundraisers, a 75-person meeting hall is available to rent. Funds help to provide no-cost training to volunteers, as well as upkeep buildings, vehicles and equipment, keeping your community a safe place to live and work.
