Fashion for 2011: YSL Resort
So all you fashionistas out there, Stefano Pilati, Head Designer for the House of Yves Saint Laurent, recently showcased the YSL Resort 2012 Collection and it was a wonderful nautical theme. According to Style.com the thriving designer pointed out that Yves Saint Laurent did a nautical collection of his own around 1982. Pilati, a fan of the late designer loved the “why not factor of” of the vintage YSL Nautical collection circa 1980s fashion . Sheer hose and pumps were out for 2012, though, and bared legs and high wooden wedges that had commercial hit written all over them, were in. Really loving the YSL red leather trench coat, the oversized collar screams luxury. The plunging v-neck bubble sleeve belted top with flirty pleated skirt is a classy casual combination. Again the bubble sleeve button down shirt with oversized sailor pants is also a home run (nice button down detailing at the hem). So far so good.
Another take on the red trench coat with a front v split front opening. Next we see a stripe oversized peasant top with flowing sleeves paired with a bell shaped skirt featuring a high waist and side pockets. Then further right we see a stripe summer dress belted and stunning cherry red wedges. The neck piece is also a nice accessory for the sleeveless Spring/Summer ensemble.
Strong vibrant colors, such as lipstick red, canary yellow, royal blue and deep black prints are also abundant in the nautical themed line as well as over-sized poppy flowers seen above and below. The collection is indeed, sellable, commercial and on-mark with the 40′s and 50′s influences many fashion designers are into. It is all very Très Chic
and I am sure many a young Hollywood actress will be urging their stylists to get their hands on some of these designs.
These designs are so elegant and flirty. The dresses above would be best worn to a Spring summer wedding, granted you might upstage the bride, but all is far in fashion and war. And not to mention the cutout poppy romper with matching sky high wedges .
