Children’s Programs Tales for Tots

Every Wednesday and Friday Morning 10:30 am - 11:00 am Tales for Tots is a fantasy themed literacy program that incorporates sparkling stories and imaginative sing-alongs with interactive movement, for children ages four and under. Sign up or drop in. All ages are welcome.

Ready to Read

Every Wednesday and Friday Afternoon 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm Ready to Read is an educational literacy program for children venturing into preschool and kindergarten. Reading, singing and learning can be fun! Sign up or drop in. All ages are welcome. For more information about this event please give us a call at 403-362-2947.

Wii for Tweens

Thursday After School 3:45pm to 5:00pm Calling all gamers! Come in and enjoy playing the coolest multi player games the Wii has to offer. Looking for more to do? We also have board games available to play with your friends. Wii Game Day is a free program for kids ages 7 to 12, and we supply snacks for all tween gamers. 4


Children’s Programs Super Story Time: Mini Mummies Saturday October 26 10:30am to 11:30am

Come join this fun children’s Halloween event, where it’s all about mummies! Awesome crafts and games sure to mummify you! For parents and children ages six and under, register at the library today.

Super Saturday: Werewolves Saturday October 26 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Come join in with werewolf games and stories. Get ready to look, think and breathe like a werewolf! For ages 7 to 10, pre-register at the library today, spaces are limited for this free program.

Grab your deck, then drop in and play Magic: the Gathering with other local players, or come in and practice your skills with our experts Jessica and Ryan. For teens and adults, drop ins welcome, no cost.

Guys Night Out: Beer Tasting Wednesday October 9 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Movies @ the Library The People of the Kattawapiskak River Tuesday October 29 6:30pm to 8:00pm

It is October 2011, and 1,700 Kattawapiskak Cree are living in dreadful conditions at minus 40 degrees in Northern Ontario. Their homes have crude stoves, holes in the walls and floors, and no sewage lines, heating or insulation. Alanis Obomsawin’s documentary examines the history of the region and the causes of a housing crisis that struck this community hard. Presented by the National Film Board of Canada

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Wednesday October 30 6:00pm to 8:00pm

It’s the weird and wonderful as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They both look for contact only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Grab your best party hats and let’s do the time warp again! The Brooks Public Library is proud to present the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
