General Programs Board Game Night Tuesdays Jan 26 6:30pm to 8:00pm

We’ve revamped our Board Game Night. Join us once a month for a night of old fashioned board games, snacks and fun. We will have a different feature game each month. This is a free drop in program.

Magic: The Gathering in the Library Every Thursday Night 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Are you looking for a way to play Magic while meeting new friends ? Grab your deck, then drop in and play Magic: The Gathering with other local players and practice your skills.

Device Drop-In & Technology Tutoring Monday Afternoons 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Children’s Programs S is for Storytime

Wednesday or Friday Mornings Jan 6 to Feb 10 10:15am to 11:00am Children ages 5 and under are sure to enjoy this program filled with stories, songs and crafts. No two storytimes are alike but each is crafted towards an engaging theme that both parents and children are sure to love. Registration is required for these free programs.

Books N’ Babies

Starts Tuesday Jan 5 10:15am to 10:45am Join our brand new baby storytime program. This 30 minute program focuses on interactive songs, rhymes and introduces board books to the babies. This is a free drop in program & parent participation is required.

Mo Willems Fan Day Saturday, Jan 16 10:30am to 11:30am

Help us celebrate one of our favourite authors Mo Willems! We’ll be reading stories, playing games and doing crafts all around Mo Willems great books. We might even write to Mo! This is a free drop in event for families. 4 Children’s Programs

Children’s Programs Lego Club

Saturday Jan 9 2:30pm to 3:30pm Love lego? Join Shawna and Allison as they take you on a themed lego adventure. First you’ll listen to a story and then build your own lego creations all based on our weekly theme. Registration is required for this free monthly program for kids ages 7-10.

Teen Programs Teen Advisory Board Wednesday, Jan 6 6:30pm to 7:00pm

Come into the library for free food and drinks, and help us decide which books, CDs, DVDs, and video games to buy, teen programs to run, and much more. Open to all teens ages 13 to 17.

Brooks Public Library Youth Art Contest & Exhibit Is art your passion? Would you like the chance to have your art displayed in the library and have the opportunity to attend an artists reception where local artists will come to see your work? The art contest is open to students grades 10-12. All mediums of art will be accepted and displayed. Deadline for submissions is Feb 29, 2016. Talk to Shawna or Cathryn at Brooks Public Library for full contest details.

Tween Programs Lego TweenScene

Wednesdays Jan 6 & 20 3:45pm to 4:45pm Do you enjoy playing with Lego? Come out after school to our free Lego TweenScene! Each session will have a new theme to help spark your creativity. This is a free, drop-in program for tweens who are 10 to 13 years old.

Minecraft TweenScene Saturday, Jan 23 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Do you like to play Minecraft at the library? Then join us in the library to make your very own Minecraft 3D paper characters, including Steve and Creepers! Snack will be provided at this free drop in program.

Reader’s Choice Book Club Tuesday, Jan 12 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Join the Reader’s Choice Book Club and read whatever you want. Simply pick a book, read it, and then tell the group your thoughts. This is a drop in, once a month program. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Law at Lunch: Losing a Job and Wrongful Dismissal Wednesday, Jan 27 12:00pm to 1:30pm

In this presentation you’ll learn about: wrongful dismissal, rights and responsibilities of employers, rights and responsibilities of someone who loses a job, and how wrongful dismissal is determined and the amount of compensation that may be awarded. Law at Your Library: An Enduring Power of Attorney Wednesday, January 27 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Planning for disability or death is important. In this presentation you'll learn about basic tools and what's involved in acquiring them. Please come and join Pat Neufeld as she talks about her love of portraiture and give a demonstration of her techniques. Her works will be in the Gallery from Jan 4 - Jan 26.

Ramen Love (Jan 27 to Feb 24)

An Alberta Foundation for the Art Travelling Exhibition. Ramen Love celebrates the global food sensation ramen noodles. Sparked by her love of ramen, Sarah Gonzales explores the roots of this noodle and its mid-twentiethcentury journey from Asia to North America.
