PHOTO by Janine Young Havanese coat will Cord, as they matt if not combed daily. The ideal time is 9-13m when they go from puppy coat to adult coat. Combing isn't natural (it is human done), but we all do it for Coat Care. If we had NO combs, all Havanese would matt up, Human hands have to separate the matts into smaller ones, called cords, just as human hands have to Comb your dog to prevent matts. a properly corded coat, will allow you to run your fingers Through the coat without any restrictions. Thus there is no restriction on the dogs ability to move, if all cords are separated to the roots.
