Q. I love the look of my light show saddle and it could really use a cleaning, but I’m nervous to use a product that will turn it dark. Can you help?

A. Saddles are expensive and the last thing you want to do is go ruining your beautiful show tack! Leather New® Total Care is just the solution. This product is a color-safe, two in one, cleaner and condition. Meaning, there is no need to fret about your leather darkening! The formula dispenses like a dream so you only get the perfect amount without the runny or drippy mess! It has avocado oil that provides deep conditioning but it will not strip the dye from black tack or lighten dark tack. Leather New Total Care can also be used on other leather goods such as purses, boots and furniture. It is my go-to product when my fancy show saddle (or my show boots, or purses or couch…) need a cleaning. It is compact and fits perfectly within a groom bag or tack trunk – I even keep some in my glove box!

Q. Hi Julie, my horse is sweating more as the temperature gets warmer. I worry about washing her too

often and drying her coat out, but all this sweat is leaving stains. What would you do?

A. to keep yourhorse’s coat well-conditioned and healthy, you do want to avoid shampooing too often. A rinse with just plain water will usually do the trick to remove surface dust, dander and sweat after each workout. Bathing weekly should be sufficient and be sure to look for a shampoo that is hydrating and PH-balanced specially for a horse’s skin and coat. If you are short on time and want an easy solution, I love our Vetrolin® Body Wash. It comes with an easy-to-use spray applicator that hooks right on the hose, so no buckets, sponges or scrubbing are necessary! It also has a switch on the product that allows you to continue to use the plain water without disconnecting the hose. Vetrolin® Body Wash also contains protein-enriched conditioners that help repair split ends and give your horse a lustrous shine!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Vetrolin® Green Spot Out is one of my absolute favorite grooming products. It so much more than just a greens spot remover, it is also an all-purpose dry shampoo. So when there’s no time for

a bath, or it it’s too cold outside, there’s still a way to make dust, dirt and sweat stains disappear. Spray it on one area at a time and work it in really well, then rub with a damp towel. No water or rinsing needed – just use a curry comb or dry towel once the hair is dry, to be sure the stain is gone and bring out the shine. It is my go-to product for any sort of stain or sweat mark that lingers around after a ride.
