2015 NATIONAL JUNIOR SHOW HOTEL UPDATE The Double Tree by Hilton, Warren Place is the headquarters hotel for the 2015 National Junior Limousin Show and Congress at a rate of $79/night for a double or king room. If you need to change or cancel your room reservations, please call the Double Tree directly at 918-495-1000 and ask to speak with Susan. Susan is coordinating the room block for the NJLSC and will make sure those changed or cancelled rooms are available to other NALF and NALJA members. ATTENTION BREEDERS AND JUNIORS As a way to get more youth involved with Limousin cattle, and with our junior membership on the rise, the MLBA felt it a good time to start a Futurity show program. What better way to do this than through this sale with so many high quality heifers available. Any heifers born September 1, 2013 through December 31, 2014, and have paid nomination fee, are eligible to participate in the futurity. The nomination/entry deadline is May first. There will be a guaranteed payout of $1,000 to the winner, $500 to 2nd place, and $250 to 3rd place. Understanding the New Limousin EPDs The Spring 2015 North American Limousin Foundation EPDs have greater predictability from the benefit of an international multi-breed genetic evaluation. What are the advantages of changing to a multi-breed genetic evaluation? • The Limousin evaluations (EPDs) are directly comparable to Red Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh, among other breeds, making selection decisions easier for commercial producers. • The carcass trait EPDs are more conservative, but consequently will be more accurate in the long run. • A contemporary group realignment into larger groups contributes to higher accuracy EPDs. • Embryo calves are no longer taken for account in the growth traits, but carcass data will be included.
