OVAL OF REMEMBRANCE
LOST IN LIMBO The Departed Dream of Selfridge The form is a symbol towards paying tribute to the last wish of Harry Gordon Selfridge in order to complete his vision for the Selfridge company.
SELFRIDGE TOWER
1909 Original Selfridge Tower proposal
The vision for the original proposal featured a 90meter tower. This concept never came to fruition due to political issues and contextual issues.
1959 Existing Selfridge Car Park
LOST IN LIMBO
This is an era of technological influences within architecture. The concept of Limbo revolves around future international inner city transportation , living and distribution of goods. The form is a influence of the original proposal inverted to comply and respect the contexts building heights.

PLUG IN SYSTEM/ SERVICES Each of the Pods have a space allocated for services. Due to the plug in system upon connecting pods are capable of being instantly powered by the electrical and heating services from the building as well as water and waste control. When the Pods are being released from the building to move on to another location, each pod retains enough amount of stored energy, oxygen and water supply permitting a safe transition.

Synopsis Shoreditch is acknowledged as a trendy place for creatives and this is the context in which I want to make a hotel which is a 3dimensional sculptural experience throughout. The guest experience is key to any hotel and “The Valley” is no exception to that. The Sculptural rooms are inspired by the work of Richard Serra and the facets which make up walls and ceilings create great surfaces to light. The hallways allow the guests to indulge in the spirit of Shoreditch by living within an art form. The curvature of the partitions allows guests to pass through naturally lit negative and positive spaces within the building. The precise cuts through the sculptural corridors allow natural and artificial light to intrude at specific points to create a dramatic feel to in one sense embody the merging and weaving faces and all walks of the Shoreditch both culturally and socially. Curious guests are enticed to take a walk through ‘The Valley’ to understand what it means to be part of Shoreditch.

4 The language of the exterior continues throughout the interior enforcing the application of natural light as well as artistically creating that sense of mystery throughout the hallways as you manoeuvre around the Richard Serra inspired walls. The notion of staying within a hotel alludes you into speculating who is alongside you and what is occurring around the building. The perforations aid in need for natural lighting as well as creating silhouettes of your neighbours to endorse that sense of mystery through the use of fogged glass layered within the walls to still keep a degree of privacy. This movement between these positive and negative spaces is what influences your experience within the sculptural rooms.

OVAL OF REMEMBRANCE CROYDON CREMATORIUM

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The brief had at its core the concept of transforming the Croydon crematorium into a place of celebration and peace, while amplifying the sense of community, rather than allowing the feeling of isolation through sadness and mourning to cultivate. The sense of privacy must also be respected and therefore allowing services and visitors to have access to the site at the same time.
The Oval of Remembrance is a new building dedicated to commemoration, The use of the hit and miss brick feature plays with privacy and open space on the same plane, and allows the users to enter an atmosphere that encourages peace within their journeys.Â

Atrium - Jet light Installation The jet lighting installation depicts the movement of the jets from start to lift of similarly to the way it operated during its tours on the upper deck. The lines show the streamlines of the jets in a physical format. The interior of the project endorses many elements of the original HMS Ark Royal. Keeping these features allows the users and visitors to not only see a part of history but to work within it like many others have. The feeling of being part of a unit, part of the fleet.

Seamless Panoramic Roof
180o Rotating Front Seats
Fluid Rear Seats
This Design features purpose is to initially delete the central blind spot created by the door frame. The removal of the central door frame also enhances the ‘Deja View’ experience by removing the breaking points.
The full panoramic roof is designed to increase the visibility of the context as well as aesthetics. Overall this feature allows the deja View experience to have an overall uninterrupted space.
During autonomous driving the Front Seats can be programmed to rotate 180o to enhance the social experience within the Ford ‘Nomad’ or retract in the dashboard for a full Deja View experience when seated in the Rear Seats.
The Rear seats within the Ford ‘Nomad’ have the ability to retract and morph for more space or comfort or into a ergonomic position to comply with vehicle safety regulations. This is all due to the flexibility of the aloe Vera technology.
Aloe Vera. Technology
Chameleon Seats The ‘skin’ of the interior mimics the aesthetic qualities of a chameleon. The hybrid materials layered with the fibre optics allow the user and the vehicle to visually transform to the desired outcome.
