For a project catered towards special people, the core belief was that a good design is more than what the eyes meet – rather how it is perceived by the individuals using the space. The design philosophy revolved around designing a place that emphasizes on catering to the different senses –visual, tactile, olfactory along with psychological sensitivity imagining and exploring things at a unique, individual pace.
A major trait for people on the spectrum, was Hyper sensibility; feeling emotions and experiencing things at a higher frequency than others, so a space was needed that would calm them down, but not dull them. We did not want to limit them within boundaries, rather let them take a journey, isolate at times they needed, but not be too far to socialize either.

Absence of sharp angles, instead curved perforated walls defining functional spaces within, designed to feel neither like a point in time; a start or an end; but rather a journey in itself. The perforations in walls allow children to be by their own personal space on need, while always being one peep away from their friends in case they want company. This strategy is opted considering the explorative nature and fostering the imagination within kids, plus the security reasons.
Juxtaposition of functional space is done in a way thay in order to reach the pavilion from the meeting area/ the circular amphitheatre, a person has to take the means of the exhibition space so that the works and improvements of children on the spectrum is loved & appreciated between functional spaces within the ensemble.
Small pods on the flooring below pavilion, intends to understand the nature of some children on the spectrum trying to seclude themselves whenever overwhelmed, but incase they change their mind, can instantly rise up from the ground and play with their friends. Similarly, the roof of the pavilion is an organic structure bearing holes in different shapes, through which, whenever light enters creates a series of patterns left for interpretations in their own way fostering imagination in the long run.
FLUIDIC CONNECTIONS
Revitalization via multidisciplinary connections
UNOPS, UN-Habitat, Cities Alliance | Design Competition | Winner | Group of 5 members
The site located adjacent to the Tansen-Tamghas Highway, consisted of a pond, along with a football field and a temple adjacent to the site. This site beared connection to the junction road connecting Ridi, Tansen & Ranighat.
Connections of existing functions as well as activating the inactive spaces in terms of activity such that the everyday users and seasonal user group was catered. The form of the proposed structure has been derived from the lush greens available on the site. Inspired from the mango tees on the site the roofline tries to mimic the dynamic skyline. A comprehensive program featuring an EV Charging Station, Public Toilet & Cafe, Stepped Staircase platform, Shower Zone, Public Library, and Elevated walkways were developed heavily emphasizing on women’s involvement and empowerment.
An activity map was formulated as a key step in this design process, where potential activities that can be performed in the site by people of different age groups was determined.
Existence of a playground led to believing a young demographic often visiting the site for games, and in addition to that the nearby cliff was developed into a low-cost resilient parapet that would accomodate around 100 visitors watching the game. The historical pond served as an attraction for the older demographic for religious purposes. Surplus to this activity, a stepped platform towards the pond was placed along with a shower zone that catered to the users taking holy bath in the pond. In addition to this, an elevated walkway platform and a public library catering to all age groups was placed to increase activity in the site.
Study of Active & Non-active zones on site was done, then an axis from the intersection of street was

Rock-cut parapet seatings with storage spaces designed underneath demonstrate strategies of space optimization catered to providing service to the community, who could use the space in cases of emergencies like earthquake as an open space, today and in the future. The storage units contain emergency tents, shelter kits, immediate structural materials like aluminum & brush poles, fastening materials and hand tools including nails, screws, roofing bolts, pliers & cable ties. In addition to that, some storage units contain stored sports equipments and sporting nets.
Sustainablity and Resilience, both economic and environmental was visualized for this project, hence opting for a need of an EV Charging station with cafe, to generate revenue for maintainance of the site. Setting up a junctioned ‘fuel & food’ station at the entrance of the site was important because this could further amplify the women empowerment agenda. Users travelling via the route would sit down for a bite, roam around the site, purchase locally manufactured products & cultivated fruits that could be sold on occasions in open spaces and in overall contribute to the traffic generation & revitalization of once-dead space.
The structure mimics the tree-line on the site with it’s parametric and fluidic form, that tries to blend in with the surrounding rather than imposing on it. Fluidic built-form as a public infrastructure also creates a seamless transition between functional spaces, and makes it easy for the users to navigate within the site. The materials proposed for this project included locally available timber and bamboo, that fostered the low-cost and resilient vision the design tries to achieve.
‘GATII’ COMMERCIAL HUB
Embrace the chaos, glide with it
Academic Project | Semester V
The ‘Gatii’ Commercial hub stands as a dynamic testament to its urban environment, with a facade that undulates in harmony with the chaotic rhythms of the bustling street outside. Its architectural form, characterized by fluid lines & dynamic forms, mirroring the lively energy of its surroundings.
Inside, the regular, circular and wavy space planning creates an intriguing journey for visitors, blending private, public, and semi-private spaces seamlessly. The mall’s design encourages exploration and interaction, offering pockets of tranquility amidst the vibrant hum of shoppers and city life. This innovative approach not only enhances the shopping experience but also reflects the evolving nature of contemporary urban spaces.
Basic intertwined curved form of the building in line with the elongated site
Protrusion of the larger dia. higher while the smaller extends only upto the third floor (bye-laws restrictions), while the bigger volumetric portion extends till 11th storey. The rest of the volume remains as an open terrace.
Terraced roofing for the upper four storeys of the larger dia. volume to comply with sunlight entering the atrium, provide functional outdoor spaces for the offices and to abide by the height restriction.
Use of double layer of facade treatment on the western and southern face to tackle the over heating effect of the sun due to maximized glass facade exposure. Presence of maximized terrace spaces and green roofs to cool down the building with passive design strategies.
The longitudinal section through both the circumference across the major vertical core, the escalator shows the consistent atrium in the bigger circle to allow lighting and ventilation into the multi-storey building. The complex features ample parking areas in the basement led by the two-way ramp on the northern part of the site.
Within the building, the lower three storeys are allocated for retail spaces and merchandise designed to draw pedestrian traffic. The upper terrace areas are specially dedicated to eateries, cafes and restaurants considering the advantage to the view around and the designed terrace systems for suitable indoor-outdoor dining premise. The upper floors are dedicated for corporate offices sice it is less likely to attract foot traffic. The core of the complex is run by two escalators, two lifts and two open-well staircases.

THE HUMBLE ABODE
Giving back to the nature & yourself
Academic Project | Semester III
Enveloped by a serene & comfortable eco-scene, The Humble Abode bears a testament to nature’s elegance - a residence molded by the principles of biophilic architecture. Within the space, nature merges effortlessly with human living spaces, both indoors and out. The core of its design philosophy is the idea of visual harmony between the inner sanctuary and the lively outer environment, creating an atmosphere of unparalleled tranquility.
The expansive architectural openings in the abode wakes up welcoming the glimmering rays of sun everyday, seamlessly integrating with vernacular and natural materials, thereby forging an uninterrupted affinity with the external milieu. The core notion of the architecture is making a home humble - translating directly to “down-to-earth” both metaphorically & physically. Not just the building’s horizontal dominance, design elements including extended projections, orientation patterns, intermediate water bodies and extended, planned softscapes keep the abode resilient and the occupants in-touch with sustainable zeitgeist.

THE MEDLEY
Balancing traditional roots to Contemporary Style
Academic Project | Semester IV | Interior Design Project
This project is aimed with the concept that if Nepal-based American Fashion mogul, Prabal Gurung, were to commence his own boutique back in his home country - influenced by his design philosophy & inspirations, what would it be like?
For this, a space was created where the surrounding let dresses speak. Starting off with a podium where the new arrivals are showcased, directly highlighted from the entrance - taken as a datum. Surrounding this, other pieces are showcased that hold an aesthetic of luxury contemporary with a touch of Nepalese tradition.
Color schemes in the interior spaces were mostly kept natural and neutral, along with beige furnitures that muted the surrounding all while letting the designer pieces communicate with visitors, whose eyes directly land upon vibrant fabric masterpieces.
During my internship, I was assigned to formulate the entire set of working drawings for a residence situated in Thecho, Lalitpur. This set of working drawings included detailed floor plans, electrical layouts, sanitary layouts, door & window schedule, slab layout plans, wall layout plans and detailed wall sections.
