Earth air tunnel or earth air heat exchanger is a pre-cooling or pre-heating system which consists of a pipe or network of pipes buried at reasonable depth below the ground surface. It either cools the air by rejecting heat to the ground or heats the air absorbing heat from the ground.

Q UADR AN GLE Re-imagning pumpwell // Urban design studio,sem 7
Brief
site pumpwell NH-73 AND 75
Reimagining Pumpwell by having a convincing entrance that is innovative and creative structure, which convinces the people, that is where they have to go to enter the city. Bringing back the idea of kalasha and choosing a better location to place it, while not disturbing the traffic. The kalasha can be abstract. The bus stop and rickshaw stands should be given a better place which helps in easier transition. The design should not disturb any of the institutions and residential spaces. It should be supporting the existing communities and shops. The participant is allowed to add or remove the flyover and change the road planning also keeping in mind it does not lead to newer problems.

Pumpwell is one of the busiest places in mangalore and get louder when there is too much traffic. So these buildings right next to the road act as a sound barrier to the building and communites behind it. Hospital and institutions are going to benifit from this feature more than anyone else. The double heighted space creates open atmosphere, and same time gets covered and provides shade. Hence the sense of space becomes one directional. Mangalore tiles acts as a shading device + acts as louvers which allows cool air to come in, also it is locally available material.

Brief Bharath oorings & Tiles -Mumbai had organised an interesting tile design competiton. The aim was to design ‘a functional and feasible design for a oor tile as per the criteria below: - Each selection of the drawing should be closed shape, and lled colour. - Artboard size should be 20cm x 20cm. - Mirroring of the pattern should be avoided - Maximum use of 4 colours.

I got an oppurtunity to design a tile for the first time. It was exciting and fun to work on this. During this lockdown i had started learning abobe illustrator through watching youtube videos and that helped me a lot in this tile design competition.
