revitalication of heritage commons,kalaburgi PROJECT : URBAN DESIGN PROJECT LOCATION : KALBURGI , NORTH KARNATAKA WORK : 7TH SEMESTER DESIGN INTENT : “Revitalization of Heritage Commons“ An HUL Approach (Historic Urban Landscape) for Inclusive and Resilient Development of Cultural Landscape. This studio aims at revitalizing the heritafge commons, for this we undertook the detail analytical study of kalburgi in terms of its topography,land use,economic structure ,tangible and intangible heritage of town.This process of urban design involves generating of various maps and comimg up with collective decisions that facilitate the city need ,tourist infrastructure and city level open spaces. Number of different pockets were identified for the individual urban inserts. MASTER PLAN

Kalburagi city is governed by Municipal Corporation and Kalburagi Urban region. It is called one of the ‘Sufi cities’ having famous religious places, like Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah ,Sharana Basaveshwara Temple , and Buddha Vihar. It also has a fort built during Bahmani rule.It has many domes ike Hafth Gumbad( seven domes together) and Shor Gumbad. Kalburagi has a few architectural marvels built during the Bahamani kingdom rules, including the Masjid sited in the Kalburagi fort. As of 2011 India census, Kalaburagi city had a population of 543,000. Average population density of 233 per km². Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Kalaburagi has an average literacy rate of 67%, the male literacy is 70%, while female literacy is 30%. CLIMATE: AVERAGE HIGH Temperature : 45°C AVERAGE LOW Temperature : 8°C Annual Rainfall : 750 mm

PROJECT : COMMUNITY SPACE PROJECT LOCATION : HUBBALLI WORK :2ND SEMESTER The “Goudar House” is 125 years old and is a good example of the vernacular architecture of the region.It is located in the heart of Hubballi city. It houses a joint family of 15 members. The intricatelycarved pillars of the house are special features of the house.The main house is a 3 ‘Ankana’ house (Ankana is a standard distance between two pillars)
