Introduction ‘’Death is the only certainty in life , for to the best of our knowledge all things that live must one day die. Thus death is and has arguably always been a crucial part of mankind’s existence - whether we choose to dwell on it or not.’’ - Lindsay Anne Hall ( Death , Power and the Body) • It has been argued that in Hindu mythology, “death isn’t opposed to life as it is commonly held in the west. But is only an entrance to another cycle of life. • People die every day, and architecture cannot change this fact. But architecture can influence the perceptions and emotions connected with the death of a relative. • Death is a universal phenomenon. Although Dialog on the matter is often avoided. However , as land is filling up fast in urban areas and rates are going higher day by day , we have pollution problems all over country . I want to propose a crematorium as a possible solution to these arising issues.

CREMATORIUM
Project/ site description Its Architects social responsibility to work on projects like this and inspire others to do the same. FUNCTION : • To make the process of cremation less harmful to nature by using new technologies. • To translate emotions through architecture. NEED : • In urban areas land rates are touching sky now a days so we have to chose an economic option to the earth burial so we will be needing more crematoriums in coming times. • Due to increasing pollution problems in urban areas we have to turn towards new technologies in cremation process • Cremation not only leaves a small ecological footprint, it also leaves a small social and psychological footprint. When a corpse is cremated and the ashes scattered, no physical focus of the deceased remains to be visited by those who love them.

CASE STUDY : ONE
MANIKARNIKA GHAT ,VARANASI Manikarnika Ghat is the oldest ghat on the Ganga. It is especially sacred because it is the meeting point of Shiva and Vishnu traditions. It is the beginning and end point of the panchkroshi parikrama, the symbolic circumambulation of the universe. The ghat is the great cremation ground where all who die will be guaranteed moksha Shiva is eternally present here and whispers the taraka mantra in the ears of the dying.
Name: Mnaikarnika ghat ,Varanasi Religion: Hindu Location: Varanasi ,Uttar pradesh Visitors/per day:2000/3000 Funerals /per day: 150/200 System used cremation:wood Oprational hours : 24 x 7 Type of structure: open / semi-open

THESIS 19-20
The formallanguage of this ghat can be read in iconic riverfront image. The diverse spaces of niches, bastions. and aedicules are articulated by activities performed every day. The layering oi spires and jharokhas of temples and palaces, and riverfront platform adds to the visual complexity Built to adapt to the highly changeable water levels of the Ganga, the ghat has been continuously remolded by spatial Wpractices. The crelpation ground has a relatively high elevation, and only the 100-year flood can fully inundate it. During the monsoon season cremation is shifted tram the lower flood plain to the higher terraces.

LOWER CREMATION PLATFORM The lower cremation platform is used for cremation in case of over crowding. The space lacks of hygine and no efforts are taken for reducing the air pollution the smoke is directly relesed in air without any treatment on it. Because the Manikarnika ghat being tourists attraction the funerals lacks privacy

CONCEPT
Open cremation space to show the emotion of acceptance of the fact that the person no more with us and all we have is memories.
Birth and death are natural stages in the life of every human being. But the emotional aspects of thbese two events are significantly different. The birth of baby is associated with excitement thoughts about death are usually scary and unpleasant. People die every day and architecture cannot change this fact . But architecture can influence the perceptions and emotions connected with the death of a relative . this is function of my crematorium project.
I wanted to create the axis thorugh levels so that when you enter from admin to the complex the view is framed in such away that you see cremation space direct through the temple and sme through the waiting area.
The site is moderately sloping ,the desinding slop of site is used in a entering path which leads to cremation spacefor ease of the mourner to carry the bodies weight. as he is in so much mental pain by this we can atleast decrese his physical efforts.
Different vertical stone walls are pointing towards the cremation space through temple to guide the mourner
