DESIGN TOPIC: FOOD COURT, PUNE-BANGALORE HIGHWAY
AIM: In this design we were supposed to design An art gallery in Katraj area of Pune. DESIGN APPROACH: i started off my design keeping in mind the fact that art gallery is a place where people come to various forms of art and relax, so why not design a building which is art gallery from inside and at the same time it is magnificent and picturesque from the outside.
G A L L E R Y
SITE PLAN The basic design concept: The basic design module/concept was derived from the nature, i.e. two flowers. The south light was successfully blocked by placing the second part of the art gallery on the first floor. By this placement the art gallery receives no light, i.e. no harm to the exhibition material. And the temporary art gallery adjacent to the permanent one receives adequate air and light ventilation

The concept of dome in the center: The glass dome in the center to provide light in the inner parts of the Art Gallery
Why fan roof? Since the span of the structure is quite large the light wont be able to reach into the intermediate areas, therefore I provided fan roof in the ceiling

DESIGN TOPIC: FOOD COURT, PUNE-BANGALORE HIGHWAY
AIM: In this design we were supposed to design a food court on Pune-Bangalore Highway, Maharashtra. DESIGN APPROACH: a food court is spot on the highway where people stop to eat, refresh and for urgencies. So, a food court should be eye pleasing, recreational and also should meet the necessary requirements of the traveller
F O O D
SITE PLAN Orientation and the building form: The orientation of the building is concentria and circular. All the lines are meeting at the center, hence making all the points visible from the central point. Wind flow: The building and its components are placed in such a way that it has the maximum cross ventilation
Cooling of the building: Water bodies are provided at regular intervals for the continuous and throughout cooling effect in the building

South light blocking: Sloping covered roof with the minimum height in the south direction to prevent south light from entering in the building

The material used here is
tubular steel because of its strength and long span efficiency. In addition to it, it can be used for temporary purpose
Another material used here is fibre glass on the roof, because it can provide entrance of sunlight in optimum amount.
Truss is used for the roofing of this pavilion because it can be used in longer spans without any support in the between and can carry the load easily

CONCEPTUAL PLANNING
My basic design evolved from one of the basic polygon ie, octagon. The basic module of the design was the combination of these three octagons

The level difference between the vehicular/parking and the housing is 3m. The parking and vehicular road goes 1.5m below the ground level and the housing goes 1.5m above the ground level. The play of squares ARRANGEMENT OF THE BUILDING: THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING FACES THE INTERIOR OF THE SITE IE, THE COMMUNITY SPACE AND THE ENTRY TO THE BUILDING IS FROM THE BACKYARD, IE, PARKING/PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY.
SECTIONS AND ELEVATIONS The starting of the staircase becomes the entry to the two flats and the mid landing of the staircase block acts as the entry of the third flat.
The concept of alternate balcony is employed.
Inverted lean to roof: For water conservation, and it will provide shade to the terrace so that the usability of the terrace increases.

AIM To replicate the existing architecture and landscape of the town in the center using the modern and more stable technology. To provide a space for the local market and culture. To represent the age old structural beauty of the town via audio visual mechanism. OBJECTIVE To create a place where visitors will be told about the local cultural heritage of the city through audio-visual methods (like museum, art gallery, bookstores, films, theater acts, city walk museum etc). To provide a well-equipped tourist information and facility center. To arrange and manage a systematic heritage trails incorporating the age old elephant rides and jeep safaris. To create locations for local handicraft, market, exhibition spaces. To provide temporary lodging and cafes/restaurants.

RELEVANCE AND THE NEED OF THE VISITORS CENTER
The town of Amber is enlisted as a heritage town with its economy dependent on the influx of tourists, which in due course of time has decreased massively. Conservation efforts and addition of new infrastructure (sound and light, audio tours) are restricted only to Amber Palace and the concentration of tourists is only on few monumental sites, hence the ignorance towards the other cultural elements has increased. The famous Meena bazaar, Rajasthani handloom, the local cuisine have lost their importance since they are not able to find a proper display area for their works. Lack of proper guided tour and public facilities have started pushing the tourists away from the Amber City. Major issue for the visitors here are lack of proper cafes and restaurants and lack of proper temporary lodging areas.
