Shuko Koike is trained as an Architectural Designer, Interior Designer, Product Designer and Architectural/Design Event Organizer with extensive experience in Japan and United States. I was born and raised in Japan and greatly influenced by my parents, my father is a traditional Japanese carpenter and my mother a Japanese tea ceremony teacher. Since a young age, I have learned from their dedication, determination and respect for traditional Japanese culture. I think that my style is formed from my innate understanding of Japanese aesthetics. In addition, my practical design skill was developed at Taro Ashihara Architects which is well known for its simple and quality lifestyle designs. My responsibility as a project manager was to manage multiple tasks for the company, including scheduling, budget control, attending client meetings, schematic design, design development, material selection, interior design, product design, public relations and event planning. As a project manager, my communication skills were developed through working with different types of architects, clients and consultants. By listening to and understanding clients’ opinions, I responded effectively to their needs and delivered successful projects. With a responsible attitude, I had developed fruitful client relationships in the last six years at Taro Ashihara Architects. After that, I also worked some solo projects in Tokyo and New York, and finished a period as an architectural intern in New York, my qualification has developed step by step.

TARO ASHIHARA ARCHITECTS OFFICE 2007 Tokyo JAPAN Office building, RC(Seismically isolated structure), 187.79m2 Role: Project Manager; Interior design and Site Management
This interior design was inspired from free style office in Japan its called non-address office style. Nomad style seating for architects is difficult, but we picked good points from that style, shared space, ideas and flexibilities. This style doesn t have a desktop shelf, but we solved this problem by adding wall shelves to all walls and developed a document arranging system. Some walls have wall curtains, which created calm environment in the office space.
