You Can Also Earn a Teaching Certification for Special Education Pre K–12
You don’t have to hold a current teaching certification to be admitted to the master’s degree in special education. If you do have a PA teaching certification, you have the option of completing the requirements for PA teaching certification in special education Pre K–12 as part of the master’s program.
Can I do this program if I am not currently certified or have an undergrad degree in education?
Yes. Additional undergraduate courses for initial certification may be required.
Is this degree program completely online?
All classes are online. There are required field experiences, which we can help you set up. Some students are able to complete these at their current place of employment.
Is this program just for teachers?
No. This program is also designed for individuals who:
• Do not intend to teach but would like a master’s degree in special education.
• Already hold certification in special education but want to complete a master’s degree.
• Hold certification in another PA Department of Education approved certificate area and would like to complete certification in special education and a master’s degree.
How will Seton Hill support me during my coursework?
You will receive personalized academic advising in person, “live” online or by phone or email. We strive to support grad students’ needs while they balance careers, families and school.
