Shuni Wu 515 West 38th St, New York, NY 10018 Shuniw@yahoo.com • (1)773-796-1248 July 26th, 2017 Domenico Lio NBBJ 140 Broadway, New York, NY 1005 Dear Domenico, I’m writing to apply for the architectural intern position for Commercial Group in NBBJ. I am very interested in this opportunity specialized in commercial, and I can offer my architectural techniques and analytical skills to add value at NBBJ. I am an architecture professional who has a master degree in advanced architectural design from Columbia University GSAPP, and a B.Arch. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology. I am proficient in using software like Rhino, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I am a native Chinese speaker, and I am fluent in speaking and writing English. I want to keep practicing on the commercial project because of my previous experience. Before starting school at Columbia, I worked as an Architectural Intern at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP in Chicago, and assisted on the exhibition design for the project Sky’s the Limit: The Engineering of Architecture in Munich, Germany. I independently edited the AutoCAD file and exported the content to Rhino to ensure the builder compliance, and coordinated with three other interns to physically make architectural buildings out of chipboard by using laser cut. In addition, I worked on the residential and commercial complex project Jovo Town from Sun Kung Kai Properties during my internship in JZFZ Architectural Design Co., Ltd. in Chengdu, China. I assisted on the design development of the residential floor plans, and independently worked on the AutoCAD drawings for plans and elevations. Meanwhile, I also worked with project team on the development of the commercial area to plan the sensitive context. I have strong analytical and problem-solving skill, which I demonstrated during the voluntary design-build project in Prinzessinnen Garten in Berlin. The project was about developing an organic garden in an urban neighborhood, which turned the space into a sustainable co-working environment. I coordinated with nine other interns on the design basis, as well as constructing the exhibition space by using natural recycled material. To solve the problem of having natural framing and bee house together with the populated café, I analyzed daily usage of the space, and separated the programs by creating multiple layers of canopies. In addition, I independently worked on the context planning, and weekly presented the design to the clients. Enclosed are my resume and portfolio, that have full details of my background and work experience. I firmly believe that I can be a strong asset to your team. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about any open position and how my experience could help the firm to achieve its goals. Please feel free to contact me at 773-7961248 or via email at shuniw@yahoo.com to discuss my candidacy further. Thank you for your consideration. Best Regards, Shuni Wu

The project is to create a musical performance space in Patras, Greece, the second biggest city in Greece, with population of 260,000. After the economic crisis, many sites within the city area are adondoned, thus the performance center is aimed to bring positive program back to the city. Desgine lead by Professor Steven Holl, the architecture is based on Terretektorh, a music piece composed by Greek Architect and Musician, Xenakis. Understood the meaning of the music via listening to it, or analyzing its musical structure. This piece was composed to convery the sound of natural element, with the gift of the waves from Mediterranean, these scenario is an art. Every music note from Terretektorh generates a series of sounds that on a circular motion, that surrounds the audience, and it is rotated with 3 different arc geometries. It thus becomes the language of architecture, and translated into architectural plands and sections. The spaces are created according to the geometry of every curve, as well as forming a private conversation between inside and outside.

The No. 50 Research Center is a project worked as an extension to the New York Public Library system. It aimed to strengthen the program of providing educational resource to the Midtown East, with a very friendly environment that sits between the residential area. The area of the research center is 10,000sq ft., which allows the space to develop vertically, in a way to push the boundary of functionality to the extreme. In addition to the regular library system, No.50 research center is designed based on projection system, that make all the stored valuable information accessible to the public.

New Station is aimed to create a new vision for the city center of Chicago, the high rails combine local, regional, and international transportation channels along with infrastructure in 21st century for living and working. The project is to combine CTA, Ogilvie Station, Greyhound, and Union Station as one, and develop a underground system to maximize the efficiency. The trim profiles provide users with ample access to daylight, in addition to sweeping views both north and south on the site. The most dynamic features of the site occur where the towers and station meet at street level. The ground plan dissolves to expose layers of public parks, restaurants, as well as views into the high- speed rail terminal. Incoming trains arrive at the expanded city with passengers being able to access the towers above directly from the train platform, or with an open invitation to discover Chicago River cutting below bustling plaza.

ECO.G is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, along with the The Great Lake. The mission of ECO.G Educational Center is dedicated to design and optimize users’ comfort without adopting either conventional heating, ventilation or air-conditioning by providing massive natural green elements and planting. A successful approach would be the combination of smart site strategies, energy management, passive heating and cooling, and ventilation technics, in a way to utilize geo-thermal wells, and natural lake water for moderation. Renewable energy generation, may possibly be the solution to the given site and micro-climate constraints. In addition, it is dedicated to foster a dialogue, in which engaging an intelligent plan of the future, and involve the water management that would be foremost among all sustain ability concerns.
