OLD CINCY MEMORIAL STUDIO 440 HOPKINS STREET, CINCINNATI OH, 45203 This design focus is not really on how fancy the future could be, but recall the grand visions or extraordinary moments in the past. I want to take advantage of the AR technology to recreate and simulate the space, which has gone to present historical stories. The artificial environment I am trying to create will bring people back to the old time by using the Hololens to simulate some building elements and textures. In other words, I am copying all the historic building contents and moving them to my building to provide people the look of the historic building. So that, people can feel being in the building, which does not exist anymore. Buildings do get destroyed over time, but with my idea and AR technology; great architecture could never be forgotten.

VISUAL TECHNOLOGY

Most of the time, AR and VR technologies are related to future imaginations. People use them to create artificial realities, which can apply to games, military, medicine, and many other businesses. Right now, there are many devices can do the job to simulate digital environments, such like HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, and Hololens. Those devices somehow engage people’s senses to bring people into a whole new world, which does not exist. More senses imposed; the better experience can translate to people. Within human-made environments, everything is possible to happen.

RISE OF ARTS OVER THE RHINE 131 E. 13TH STREET, CINCINNATI, OH 45202 GALARY APARTMENTS The site is located along the busiest street main street in Over the Rhine area of Cincinnati. By discovering the surrounding neighborhoods, there are bars, markets, restaurants, and small firms. Also, lots of artists have been doing their paintings all over the walls, doors, and windows. The apartment is designed for helping the growth of art in Over the Rhine. The ground floor mainly serves as art galary and art teaching institution. And upper levels are rentable compact apartments for young artists, students, and small families.

ROW HOUSE FOR WILLIAM FORD GIBSON The house contains heavy metal and quadratic elements, which mixed together to create an industrial sense. The shape of the house is designed for maximize the beautiful view of Cincinnati downtown across Ohio River. The house has a client room for Mr. Gibson to work and spend his time along,And rest of the house just has a right amount of space for Mr. Gibson’s family and himself.

URBAN SYMBIOSIS SĂƒO PAULO I BRAZIL

GROUP PROJECT: SHUYANG CHEN JACOB ROSS SION MCDERMOTT This proposal advances the ideas of efficient transportation management, new paradigms for traffic intake/outtake, hybrid multi-purpose infrastructure, and careful consideration of sustaining and not disrupting the existing transportation routes, cyclist networks, and cultural dynamics of surrounding context. Emphasis is on the relationship between manmade and natural. Natural green spaces have been provided throughout the site to compliment human’s desire to recreate. This is contrasted by man-made green infrastructure- such as a large parking structure that serves as a parking garage at the interior core, but also provides natural agriculture opportunities above the concrete slabs.

He worked very successfully on several other projects besides those listed above, producing great design ideas, presentation material up to the office’s standards and also successful verbal presentations to clients. Shuyang is a very independent intern and a very talented designer, always giving his best. He drew beautiful drawings, made models, made sure projects were done, and figured out what steps were needed in the process sometimes with minimal guidance.

PAMA SOUTH SIDE MONUMENT PARSONS AVENUE COLUMBUS, OH

On the given site above, a monument is needed, which could representative the South Side of Columbus. High elements, softscape were asked by clients. The design idea came from the two main industries, “Federal Glass” and “Buckeye Steel”. The Form is designed as a half glass bottle like, and concrete representative glass, steel set the form.

The idea of this block is using three various direction lines to find a point of balance by looking from the top view. And putting couple supports to space out those three layers, so that a feeling of continued and flowing line is giving.

The plane block’s key word is “shifting”. At first, the top and front faces of the cube are missing to exposure the inside. Then, the other side faces were designed to have flowing long bar like apertures, which turned at the corner. In addition, there are two square apertures in the center of left and right sides. At last, the missing two square pieces are shifting to the center of the whole cube to be one.

BALANCE BLOCK

At first a plaster model was made in solid volume intentionally; and left a continued path on the surface. By expanding the continued path of the plaster model, the wood model was design to keep the same language with the plaster model. Strong feeling of symmetrical and centralize was put within the whole model.

The idea started from finding a special standing point for the model. A continued solid wood bar started from bottom, went through six corners to the top, and then went down to the ground in a spiral shape. And the point, which touch the ground is supporting the model to stand up.
