The garden is located on University Drive just south of the William R. Johnson Coliseum (see map on reverse).
Unique native varieties of azaleas found in the garden include the yellow ‘Aromi Sunrise,’ orange flowering ‘Tipsy Tangerine,’ and yellow ‘Admiral Semmes.’
Walking paths weave through the garden, drawing attention to more than 7,000 evergreen and native azaleas. The heart of the garden is the Council Ring, surrounded by deep watermelon pink blooms of the ‘Judge Solomon’ and white accents of ‘Mrs. G.G. Gerbing.’ Benches define the outer circle, providing a beautiful and serene respite area.
The garden encompasses eight forested acres along historic Lanana Creek on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University. Its impressionistic style features large masses of brilliant color accented with vibrant Japanese maples, camellias, and ornamental trees.

Each trail starts at the Visitors Center, located on the downtown square at 200 E. Main St. Color-coded signs provide directional assistance along the trails.

Limited handicapped parking is available on the west side of the garden (drive through the middle of the garden from University Drive at sign – no buses). All other visitors and buses can park in the parking lot between Johnson Coliseum and the north end of the garden, or in the parking lot at the corner of Starr and University Drive.
