BIG BEND $599
6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS Day 1 Leaving the Valley, we will follow the Rio Grande River north on a comfortable, restroom equipped, climate controlled motor coach. We will pass thru Rio Grande City, home of Fort Ringgold. A bit further down the road we will encounter Roma, where Zapata was filmed. We will continue past Laredo and Carrizo Springs on the way to Del Rio. Lunch along the way. Tonight will be spent in a comfortable hotel. Day 2 After breakfast today, we will head off to Seminole Canyon, then Langtry, where Judge Roy Bean was known as “the law west of the Pecos” in the 1880s. You will want to have your camera ready today. Arriving at Big Bend, the first thing we will see is Hallie’s Hall of Fame Museum. The museum is a tribute to Hallie Stillwell, who was a pioneer woman in the old West. Admire antique ranch and farm equipment and learn the story of a pioneer ranch family in the Big Bend region. Entering the Chisos Basin will allow you to admire the beauty of Big Bend’s majestic rock formations. Here you are far from the city and if you are quiet, you may well observe wild life around you. Have a good meal tonight and sleep well, because tomorrow will bring much more of the beauty of Big Bend National Park. Day 3 Today, we explore beautiful Big Bend in more detail. We will go to Panther Junction, where a short looping level trail will help you to identify many plants that are common in the park. We will take the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to let you see more of the beauty of the park interior. We will head down to the Rio Grande River and the famous Santa Elena Canyon, possibly the park’s best known natural wonder. You may take a short walk into the Winter Texan Budget Tours - Page 12
canyon to view the spectacular canyon walls closing in on the Rio Grande River. We will enjoy a picnic lunch at the Cottonwood Campground, and we will visit Castolon Historic Compound, a cavalry encampment during Poncho Villa’s time Day 4 We will visit Boquillas Canyon today, driving along a very scenic route. Next we will see the ghost town of Terlinqua. Terlinqua ceases to be a ghost town once each year during their annual chili cookoff , an event that brings thousands of people to the area. Then we will go to Lajitas, a privately owned town. We will pass thru Alpine, home of Sul Ross University. When we arrive in Fort Stockton, you will be able to visit the Annie Riggs Museum and the old fort. We will also visit the St. Genevieve Winery and sample their wines. Day 5 We will visit the highly acclaimed Caverns of Sonora today. It has been called the most beautiful cavern in the world. Next sit back and enjoy the scenery of the fantastic Texas Hill Country as we travel through a number of small towns to Uvalde, once home to former Vice President John Nance Garner. Tonight’s entertainment will be a wonderful performance by the Sahawe Indian Dancers. Day 6 Today, we plan to visit The Mesquite Factory, an unusual one man operation that makes impressive mesquite rocking chairs and tables. Then we plan to visit the home of the aforementioned John Vance Gardner before pointing our motor coach back to the Rio Grande Valley. As you relax for the comfortable ride home, you will have great memories (and hopefully some wonderful pictures) of all the exciting and beautiful places you have been.

Galveston Island Mardi Gras 3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS AWESOME! FUN! MEMORABLE! Galveston: When explored by Europeans the Island was an Akokisa site. It was used by the Karankawa tribe for hunting and fishing. During the Texas revolution, the harbour served as the port for the Texas Navy. Early years gave the city many firsts in Texas: First Roman Catholic Convent, first electrical light, and the first Medical College. In 1900 the entire Island was inundated during a hurricane which claimed more than 6000 lives. A seawall ten miles long was built two years later. Galveston Island offers 32 miles of beach and is a treasure trove of things historically Texan. It is the home of the University of Texas Medical Branch, Texas A&M University of Galveston and Galveston College. Day 1 Our first class motor coach will pick you up from your park (minimum of 6 people required) and we will be driving to Galveston the beautiful coastal Island. Stop for breakfast and lunch on our way to Galveston will be a Dutch treat on your own. We are planning to arrive in Galveston by 5 pm. We will do a hotel check-in. Ready to leave the hotel by 6 pm to go for the Mardi Gras celebration. Our motor coach will take us to the action and a great view of the parade. We will stop for dinner at a nice restaurant before returning to our hotel for a good nights sleep. Winter Texan Budget Tours - Page 16
Day 2 Breakfast at your hotel is included and then we are ready to explore Galveston Island’s important sites and scenes and sounds of parades. Two churches to visit Grace Episcopal Church founded in 1874, and 1st Lutheran Church founded in 1850. We will take you to enjoy the Bolivar Ferry ride between Galveston and Port Bolivar TX- 87. Ferries are a part of the Texas Highway System. Our second stop will be to visit the Galveston County Historical Museum. Lunch will be on your own and recommended by your local guide. Your guide will give you time to walk on the beach for a nice romantic moment. We will return to the hotel by 4 pm. Relax for two hours and be ready to see more parade in the Mardi Gras Performances. Dinner will be after the show (on your own). After dinner we will return to the hotel. Day 3 Breakfast at your hotel is included. Checkout will be after breakfast. We will view the Great Storm: Award- winning multiimage presentation using historical photographs and special effects to recreate the aftermath of the 1900 hurricane that devastated Galveston (27 minutes). After the presentation we will go shopping for one hour before leaving Galveston to return home. Stop for lunch on our way. Return home by 8 p.m. with memories of a fun time.

Farm Tour S pec i a l d e l u x e
(ONE DAY TOUR)
•
Question: What did the cow say to the dairy farmer on a cold Sunday morning? Answer: Your tour conductor will tell you the answer on the trip, so sign up today and join us! Last year this tour sold out fast. A Short Farming Story: A young boy was walking to school in the holy land when he saw an old man planting an olive tree. The boy stopped and asked the old man why he was planting an olive tree that would take years to give fruit when he may not be alive at that time to eat the fruit. The old man smiled and responded, “Yes, that may be true, but our grandparents planted so we could eat and now we plant so our grandchildren can eat also.” Farmers worldwide are doing just that, planting so that others can eat the fruit of their fields. Farms, farmers, the farming industry, fun and an educational adventure; you will see and experience all of these things on this tour. A one day adventure, your tour package includes: Round trip transportation by first class A/C motor coach with a clean restroom and clean windows for a great view
