"How to Plan and Implement Seismic Isolation for Buildings"
u
This book provides basic information on seismic isolation for buildings, presented in question-and-answer
format, for architects, structural engineers,
building contractors, building owners, students and others who may have an interest in seismic isolation. General aspects of seismic isolation, including planning, design, construction and maintenance are discussed in the context of application of the technology to office or condominium buildings. The Japan Society of Seismic Isolation aSSn was established in 1993 with the goal of disseminating information on seismic isolation for buildings, and to generally promote the technology. Since that time, numerous questions and inquiries about many different aspects of seismic isolation were received by JSSI, the responses to which were previously collated in the book, "How to plan and implement seismic isolation for buildings". Subsequently,
"Notification No. 2009 for the structural
calculation of
seismically-isolated buildings" was published by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism in Japan. In addition to the information developed above, more recent information about seismic isolation that has become available as the technology has progressed and experience with construction implementation has been included. It is hoped that this book will be useful to all those interested in seismic isolation, and serve to further disseminate both a better understanding and wider use of the technology.
