After the incredible climax to last season, the excitement and anticipation surrounding the start of the 2022 FIM Motocross World championship is understandably high. The 2021 series once again delivered action and drama, and successfully navigated the ongoing COVID restrictions to fulfil an eighteen-event schedule that came to a fitting close in Italy late last November. All involved must be congratulated for their ongoing co-operation, collaboration and shared desire to adapt to the challenges that were faced by all.

Hopefully, improving conditions globally will allow the 2022 edition of the FIM Motocross World championship to run its full course and deliver an incredible twenty round series that will visit at least fifteen different countries, and confirms the Worldwide appetite for a series that continues to go from strength to strength.

The fast and flowing Matterley Basin circuit is set to get the new campaign underway with a whole host of other amazing venues then awaiting the riders and teams thereafter, noting that adaptations to the schedule may be necessary due to local conditions and to ensure the absolute safety of all concerned at all times.

South America is always a favourite stop and this year it is Argentina who has the honour of representing this part of the World. Whilst in Europe visits to Italy, Portugal and Latvia will confirm the unique challenge each stop of the series brings. This is further illustrated by the different characteristics of Maggiora, Sardinia, and Spain, whilst not forgetting the undulating circuits of Ernée (France) and Teutschenthal (Germany).

Indonesia is set to be another stand out chapter in the season, whilst the rounds at Loket (Czech Republic); Lommel (Belgium) and Uddevalla (Sweden) remain popular with both riders and fans. The return of Scandinavian countries to the calendar will be reinforced by return of Hyvinkää (Finland). Clashes in France and Turkey will form part of the closing sequence that will see the medal winners decided before the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations takes place at Red Bud, USA.

This year’s FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will comprise of five rounds and will include events in Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey to decide the 2022 FIM World Champion.

As we all look forward to another extensive and successful season of racing, on behalf of the FIM I would like to offer sincere thanks to our promoter Infront Moto Racing who continue to drive this discipline forward with the collaboration of the other key stakeholders. Therefore, I would also like to say thank you to all the local organisers, national federations, FIM officials, volunteers, riders, teams, media, sponsors and fans, who collectively all continue to play an important part in making the FIM Motocross World Championship the jewel that it is.

Jorge Viegas FIM President

Once more a very warm welcome to all our FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship fans to Hyvinkäa in Finland. We are very pleased to come back again to Finland as the global pandemic made it impossible during the last couple of years for MXGP to land here, but finally in 2022, Finland will be able to witness another edition of the FIM MXGP & MX2 Motocross World Championships which, I am sure, will make all our motocross fans dream once again.

Hyvinkäa is one of the true traditional style MX tracks in the motocross in this part of the world where the last edition of the MXGP back in 2014 saw #222 Cairoli and #84 Herlings on the podium. After some modifications in this awesome facilities, this weekend the purest can really enjoy as it’s a true test in the original motocross style with plenty of tricky sandy sections. For those who have taken the time to travel to Hyvinkäa, you will not be disappointed by the track or the surrounding charm and hospitality. Special thanks to the National Federation for the support they provide by ensuring we have the necessary help to manage the special areas of sporting officials, technical team, and the very important medical team as without all of the above it would be impossible to organize such events to the level we demand when it comes to MXGP.

To our promotion partner Infront Motor Racing together with Lahti Events Ltd and the SML, the national federation, a big thank you for again bringing us to Hyvinkäa for what we hope will be a very successful 2022 MXGP in this wonderful place. Thanks also to all our fantastic fans!

Antonio Alía Portela FIM/CMS Director Dear MXGP Friends,

We are very pleased to be back in Finland after missing the GP there for several years. The MXGP of Finland marks the second stop in the Scandinavian countries as the fans are looking forward to having this event back.

The alternative venue for the MXGP of Finland has been announced some weeks ago thanks to the great cooperation Infront Moto Racing had with the local organizer Lahti Events Ltd., the Finnish Motorcycling Federation and the availability of the Motoclub.

The Vauhtipuisto Circuit has a great record in Motocross as the FIM Motocross World Championship made its first appearance back in 1965. Since then, many World Champions made history at this old school track.

This year together with the MXGP and MX2 classes a round of the EMX250 and EMXOpen as well as the Grand Finale of the EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing will take place.

MXGP’s presence on digital platforms has continuously increased, attracting a lot of interest from young fans all over the world and as a result MXGP has become more and more popular, with fans now having the opportunity to get a closer look at each event with our behind-the-scenes coverage. We are proud to have more than 3.1 Million fans on MXGP Facebook, 89.7 thousand followers on Twitter, 1.1 Million Followers on Instagram as well as a growing following on TikTok which along with Instagram is by far our fastest growing media. Finally, we have reached 295K Subscribers and an impressive 136 Million Views on MXGPTV YouTube Channel.

This season will continue to be broadcasted live on many prestigious National TV networks like Eurosport in Europe, CBS Sports Network in USA and Canada as well as on our own MXGP TV streaming service which reaches millions of views every season.

Finally, I would like to thank the FIM, the FIM Europe, all our partners, manufacturers, teams, riders and media for their support and collaboration. Because of this great collaboration between all the parties, MXGP has become the most popular off-road motorcycling Championship in the World.

See you all in Hyvinkää!
