Mr. Thomas is a well-rounded dude; nothing is abrasive about how J.J. snowboards, no jagged edges just smooth liquid like style that he pours over any terrain. J.J. is also a very hard worker. Ever since J.J.s Olympic Bronze in 02 J.J. has focused his attention to many a great film project while juggling the contest scene. During the 08 season J.J. earned himself a spot with the Standard films crew during one of J.J.’s most epic winters. To sum it up J.J. just charges! It’s been a season of highlights for J.J. and if you asked him his favorite moment I doubt he could narrow it down to just one thing. J.J. truly loves snowboarding and it’s contagious. Style, style and more style! Darrell is not one to spin for the win. In short its quality over quantity and feel makes up so much of style. For Darrell if a trick cant be done right it shouldn’t be done at all and the old adage I would rather see a clean 540 rather then a hucked 1080 comes to mind. But its Darrell’s commitment to keeping things clean that has landed him parts in MDP’s Follow Me Around and Picture This films in the past couple years. Darrell strives for perfection and it comes to him with ease. Beaman just straight up rules, her easy straight forward approach to life seems to carry into her snowboarding and overall style everywhere she goes. The things you may not know about Hana is that that she would love to be a doctor some day, she reads Popular Mechanics, loves real estate, and has a nack for home improvement. The things you may already know about Hana is that she has managed three winter X games silvers with her last silver in 07 and also a Nippon Open slopestyle win in 07. Hana also started off the her 07/08 season with a 2nd place slopestyle finish at the Abominable snow jam and a 3rd place slopestyle finish at the New Zealand Open. On top of all these winnings you may have seen her 07 cover of Transworld and her ender part in La La Land produced by Runway Films. Megan grew up in Ride’s backyard riding the great Washington and Oregon resorts like Stevens Pass, The Summit and Mt.Hood. Hailing from the NW you tend to care less about the sunny days and perfect conditions so that you can just concentrate on having fun. Megan has prven to be fearless having fun in some very intimidating terrain. As a result Megan takes her experience from the Northwest and has unleashed her skills on many a contest podium. “Juuso crazy” is what we like to call him around the ride office but crazy is far from the best word to describe this young Fin. In fact Juuso is a calm cool and collected levelheaded dude from Espoo Finland. Juuso’s precision can be seen in his smooth calculated snowboard style. Very few mistakes and what should look difficult will appear easy. Juuso comes from a long line of Finnish snowboarders to break onto the scene generation after generation and with the amazing talent that comes out of Finland it only gets more difficult to stand apart from the norm. The standards are set high and when Juuso journeyed westward to pursue his snowboarding career he stood far enough apart to be handed a video part from Standard Films. Juuso has most notably grown into his pro status under the lens but with a few strong finishes in the Air and Style rookie challenge and a couple podiums like a 1st place and MVP of the Etnies GvR contest this season we think its safe to say you will see a little more of Juuso on the contest circuit in 08/09. Skills the world over. Marco’s most notable accomplishments in recent years have been his video parts with Pirates films and Absinthe films. With association with such prestigious productions it’s clear that Marco’s style and proficiency with a shred stick have been impressing the right people. Its not easy making your way into the professional snowboard scene these days through strictly filming but when you work with film crews like Absinthe and Pirates your sitting in with some pretty good company. Marco is a fairly laid back individual letting his snowboarding speak for itself but it definitely has people asking for more and more is exactly what you can expect from Marco in 2009. Alex has been bringing his game global last year starting off with a strong showing at the Red Bull Drive by event through southern Europe and ending his season with an impressive participation at the Empire Shakedown. The Rookie team is comprised of a global field of promising up and coming talent farmed from within the Ride program. These are ams and regional riders who have shown the ability talent and dedication needed to proform at a proffesional level. These are the best of our am team rider who now have some travel budget to network themselves into high profile snowboard films contests and on the hit lists of the major magazine’s photographers. Additions to this team will be made in the Fall if budget permits. Again the growth of this team will be detirmined by budget and rider location. Ideally the next addition to this team would be from Europe or Japan but with the promise of breaking into the stronger western media scene or International contest circuit.

Austin is one of the finest up and comers hailing from the Northwest territory…Seattle to be specific. Austin brings some quick feet to the team with crazy tech on the rails and some serious cajones when it comes to the backcountry kickers. It’s Austin’s style and knack for the creative that really sets his snowboarding apart from others. Snoqualmie Pass Wa. has been Austin’s life long stomping grounds and now that he has been getting the chance to travel, opportunity knocks! The doors have been opened and the family of sponsored snowboarding has welcomed him with open arms. Corey Noble USA As Hood rat as they get! Corey Noble holds a rare talent of making any regular old trick unique. A style all his own Noble’s cat like skills are un-canny. No matter where Corey straps in it’s not long before onlookers are saying “who’s that guy?” while those in the know are already joining in on the session because he is fun as hell to ride with. Corey’s snowboarding is inspiring and technical whether its a stump in the woods of Hood Meadows or a big air kicker at a contest. Brennen Swanson USA Some of the most talented snowboarders we have ever had on the team seem to always come from small podunk little resorts that offer little to no terrain to benefit anyone with a professional snowboarding career in mind. However lack of terrain does make eager snowboarder hungry and as with any starving kid you invite to dinner your damn right the kids going to feast. Eating up the competition is just what Brennen is craving and thankfully the 08/09 season has plenty on the menu. It will be hard to miss Brennen this season as im sure he will be living fat off of a steady diet of podiums. Nash Lajeunesse CAN Nash is one of those super loose buttery jib magician’s and what is so powerful about his bag of magic is that his tricks can be cast over any object. We have seen many a person turned to stone upon witnessing the mastery of his craft. Nash is from Calgary where he hones his skills in his enchanted forest snowboard park he built in his backyard. You can find Nash making appearances around many a local slopestyle contest including the famous Shakedown and has also been filming with the Sandbox crew and there upcoming release “Shine On”. Sam Hulbert USA Sam Sam he’s our man if he cant do it we’re not really to sure who can? Sam was on a tare with the slopestyle contests during the 08-09 season. Sam has consistancy on his side and seems to be a common theme with the New Hampshire natives. With and 5th place overall standing in the 09 Dew Tour standings, a Grand Prix of snowboarding overall Slopestyle standing and a some top ten finishes in the Global Open series Sam has set a blistering pace for himself and the 2010 contest season. Sam is not only a contest machine though. Check out this years production from Think Thank “Cool Story” to get a better picture of what Mr. Hulbert is all about. The national pro team is comprised of some of our most well known riders with the most experience. They have an established career at a national or International level but no longer poses the fresh exciting new talent and marketing strength of the younger pro and rookie teams. There should be no question of these riders loyalty to Ride and should be representing Ride in every avenue their years of experience and networking can provide. The members of the National Pro team should be creating avenues of exposure for the overall growth of our team as they approach what is realistically the end of their cycle on the team. This team will be best utilized for PR events, team guidance recruiting and trending.

Droz knows! He does…Nico has been one of Europe’s most influential pro’s over the past decade and still going strong. Nico calls Thonon France his home where he spends his summers skateboarding and racing sailboats editing skate and snowboard videos and raising his young family his greatest joy, his son Terry! As if that’s not enough to handle Nico has been keeping himself busy this season with his second release from Snowworld Productions “Homies II, Locked Outside” . Big Mike needs no introduction to those of you who have been following professional snowboarding over the past decade but for those of you who don’t know Mikey he broke onto the scene in the early 90’s shortly after moving to Summit County Colorado from the coast of Maine. After a couple years of recycling his buddies used boards he soon found himself making boards in a factory. Next thing you know factories were making boards for Mikey. Mike is an artist, actor, writer, poet, athlete, scholar and entrepreneur maybe even a Guru of sorts. When Mike is not snowboarding he is merely creating all things awesome and helping others do the same! Mike has truly kept his snowboarding fresh, progressive and true to snowboarding. WIth his main projects outside of Ride Holden Outerwear and now a new venture sitting behind the scenes in the production of new snowboarding film Videograss. Hiromi has been making a name for herself in her homeland of Japan over the past few years riding with local Sandai Yamagata local Takashi Nishida and shredding her way around the world with Japan’s Ichiban film crew Heartfilm’s. It was Hiromi’s first trip to the U.S.last season where it didn’t take to long for her fellow teammates J.J. Thomas and Juuso Laivisto to give her the nickname “Little Big Steez”. The name couldn’t be more self-explanatory. Hiromi attacks the jibs and has recently been bringing her skills into the backcountry but is usually found ripping the urban terrain of Yamagata. Hiromi’s distinctive style and contagious fun vibe portray all of what Ride is about. Kozumo plans to spend time in Whistler B.C. the U.S, and New Zealand this season competing and filming. Mr. Nishida is one of the most respected and prominent figures in Japans professional snowboard scene. Takashi has taken his career and has created outlets for not only him self but many others who share in his pursuit for stylin out a back lip,or boostin a cab-five. Takashi is a co-owner of May’bem casual clothing, he also owns and operates his own board shop, and everything else associated with the two from producing summer camps and snowboard videos. A leader not a follower Takashi stays on top of his game and National pro team duties by pushing his skills on and off the slopes. Snowboarding would not be where it is today without the contributions of snowboarders like Leblanc and Droz, Takashi is no exception. I’ve seen some star power on the team but until I traveled with Aki in Japan i had no idea what being a celebrity was really like. We witnessed ooo’s ahhh’s and bow’s at every seben ereben we entered. But lets give Japan some credit for having the most enthusiastic fans on earth. So lets look at the other side of Aki here. Maybe one of the most modest people I have ever met! Yet another of the ride team that lets his actions speak louder then words just super solid core snowboarding with out all the riff raff. Aki’s super powerful fluid style may have something to do with his love for surfing? No matter what his influence his influence on others is appearant. Aki is equally comfortable throwing down at the Nissan X-trail Big Air at the Tokyo Dome or riding the avalanche prone backcountry of Whistler. Akifumi Hiraoka is a true snowboarding hero! Hailing from Lake Louise Alberta Canada is one crazy man by the name Andrew Hardingham and this time when we say crazy we mean it! All jokes aside Andrew is a super talented individual. It may not be actual talent it may just be the lack of fear to try anything. The end result is that Andrew delivers, it may be pooh in a box or a 100ft rock ride or a narrow Avalanche escape. With Andrew anything is possible? In fact to best sum up Andrew he would most likely deliver you a pooh in a box while dropping into a 100ft rock ride into an Avalanche and survive with a broken arm but still holding the box…yeah your damn right Andrew delivers!
