Volunteer Role: Exhibition & Venue Tour Guide Volunteer Support Person

Role Purpose

To introduce groups of visitors and individuals to Side Gallery and to the exhibitions on display.

Specific Tasks

Providing guided tours of the gallery’s exhibitions, introducing the images on the display and providing further detail to visitors.

Skills and Qualities Needed

Volunteers will come from a wide range of backgrounds and will have many different qualities and skills. Essential qualities for this role are: welcoming and friendly manner, good communication skills and memory plus an interest in documentary photography.

Commitment

Once or twice a week or fortnightly. Set times, with some flexibility to accommodate adhoc educational visits from schools, colleges and universities.

Support and Training

The volunteer will be given regular one to one guidance and support. During this support any relevant training that may be required will be identified and the volunteer will be offered suitable training to meet their need.
