Volunteer Role: Exhibition Preparation & Installation Volunteer Support Person

Role Purpose

To assist the gallery curatorial team in exhibition preparation and installation.

Specific Tasks

Print mounting, framing, wall preparation (filling, sanding, painting), transporting framed images to and from exhibition spaces, picture hanging, captioning, visitor handout preparation and cleaning.

Skills and Qualities Needed

Essential qualities for this role are: Good physical fitness, willingness and ability to take detailed instruction, enjoy working as part of a team, some familiarity with using IT and willingness to learn; interest in documentary photography. Desired but not essential qualities for this role are experience in preparing exhibitions, painting & decorating, mounting, framing and hanging framed work.

Commitment

1-10 consecutive days every 8 weeks, Monday-Friday, 10am – 5pm.

Support and Training

Training will be given in all aspects of exhibition design, preparation and execution. Support will be available throughout.
