Two local family support projects to share in almost $160,000 TWO NorthWest projects dedicated to the wellbeing of local families will share in almost $160,000 from the Rudd Government. Federal Member for Braddon Sid Sidebottom said Devonportbased organisation Youth and Family Focus would receive $91,680 for its Focus on Families project. The King Island Councill will receive $67,573 for its SELF project. “The Youth and Family Focus project supports families and single parents in developing their parenting skills,” Mr Sidebottom said. “The King Island Council’s SELF project is aimed at improving the health, wellbeing, social and educational outcomes of people in the local community “Both these projects provide ontheground, practical help for vulnerable children and their families who face social and personal challenges. “This valuable support in turn assists to strengthen our community ties even more.” The funding comes as part of the $19.3m Community Investment Program. These projects were formerly funded under the Government’s Local Answers program.
