Message from the MCP Dear AIESEC Network With great excitement, I present to you the latest edition of Discover India, an initiative we have been running for four years now. In our quest to answer the perennial question - "How can we as AIESEC India deliver more & better experiences with our partner entities", some key bottlenecks were identi ed to be overcome. The top 3 bottlenecks, looking from a customer (partner country) view-point, were: "how can I get to know the available opportunities in India?" "how can I gain speci c & correct information on the experiences that AIESEC India o ers?" "how can I best prepare myself/my EP/my TN manager for an enriching experience co-delivered with AIESEC India? The answer to all these questions is the highlight of this edition of the Discover India initiative - our brand new portal www.discover.aiesec.in With a goal of delivering 9000 transformative exchange experiences in the term 2013-14, we at AIESEC India are striving hard to make each and every experience matter. AIESEC India 2013-2014 Aspires to Transform, something which cannot be achieved without your constant support, consultation and commitment. All 5000 of us are relentless in our pursuit to ensure every experience we deliver transforms the individual living it - be it a member, client, EP or any stakeholder. On behalf of the AIESEC India Member Committee '13-'14 Lakshya, I hope you enjoy reading this brochure and decide to join us in this endeavor of Transformation. See you in the next session/party! Anubhav Razdan President AIESEC India
Health - There are some health risks associated with travel to India depending on the place of internship and hence travellers should take medical advice on vaccinations at least three weeks before departure. - Food poisoning is a risk in India: Visitors should drink only bottled water or treated water from home. Ensure that the seal on the bottle is intact. - Health facilities are adequate in the larger cities, but limited in rural areas. Travellers should have medical insurance, and bringing a standard - Travellers to the Himalayan Mountains should be aware of the risks of altitude sickness.
Safety Health India is a great place to be. But, just like any other place, there are some things one needs to do to ensure that they get the best experience possible! Here are a few things; Be alert: - Market areas with high population density, Railway stations and trains, Bus stops and buses - Traveling alone during the night may sometimes not be a safe option. If you have your own vehicle and company then its relatively safer, however, you must avoid interacting with any stranger while travelling during the night. - Do not carry valuable as well as your documents in your wallet to prevent theft. Or if you consider it safer to carry these documents make sure you keep them in a body pouch.
Money Health - The o cial currency of India is INR. One USD is equivalent 59 rupees approximately (subject to change as per market forces). It is pronounced as Rupee in Hindi. - Cost of living in India is relatively cheaper since India is still a developing country with plenty of cheap labor, resources and a ordable commodities. - The cost of living varies greatly from one city to another and even in the localities within cities. - ATMs linked to international networks are common in most towns and cities in India. However, carry cash or traveler cheques as backup in case the power goes down, the ATM is out of order, or you lose or break your plastic card.
Visa Health - Depending on the purpose of your visit, you can get a tourist visa (6 months), a business visa (6 months, one year or more, multiple entries) or a student visa (up to 5 years). - Make sure to check maximum duration per visit on your VISA with your local embassy. - If you are on a Student, Employment, Research or Missionary visa, you need to register within 14 days of arrival with the Foreigners Regional Registration O ce where you will be staying. - All visitors who intend to stay more than 180 days also need to be registered. - Overstaying a visa is to be avoided at all costs as you will be prevented from leaving the country until you have paid some fairly hefty nes and present a large amount of paperwork.

We, Gu Ting and Chen Yulong, traveled across thousands of kilometers, come to touch India, come to contribute our youth to this ancient country in this hot summer. Our parents, professors, friends asked us time and time again, why do you choose India? According to your ability, you can choose a European country or a top company in China. At that time, I didn t get a rational reason, just a strong feeling or a mystery power deeply from my heart, attracting me to go to India.
Now, I arrive here. I nd answers all over this exciting land: spicy and delicious food, variety of tasty fruits, extremely warm-hearted Indians, friendly and helpful colleagues, passion towards charity and welfare For people who chase in the material world, it is not a good place; but for people who pursue the calmness of spirit, the nature of human, the pureness of heart, it is the paradise.
