CONTENTS
This Project highlights and provides a solution of the existing issue of high substances abuse cases and crimes and showing a better way for inmate treatment. This can be simply done by incoporating a deaddiction, rehabilitation and empowerment centre in Narcotics specific prisons or construction of a new one.

01 NIRVANA
INTRODUCTION
A specialized deaddiction and rehabilitation centre in Thrissur, Kerala, offers comprehensive care for substance abuse offenders, including medical treatment, psychological support, and social reintegration.
Kerala faces a shortage of facilities dedicated to rehabilitating drug offenders, leading to high recidivism rates and inadequate care for those affected.
SCOPE
A comprehensive rehabilitation centre should incorporate advanced medical and therapeutic facilities, offer tailored educational and vocational programs, promote research in correctional strategies, and harmonize the facility with nature to enhance the therapeutic environment.
AIM
To establish a state-of-the-art facility that prioritizes humane treatment and rehabilitation over mere detention, setting a new standard for correctional facilities in India.
LIMITATIONS
1.Challenges in changing public perception of deaddiction centres.
2. Balancing high security with an open, rehabilitative environment.
3. Ensuring long-term funding and governmental support for innovative programs

FEASIBILITY OBJECTIVE
The project aims to fill a crucial gap in rehabilitation services for substance abuse offenders in Kerala. The selected site in Thrissur offers enough space and a peaceful environment for comprehensive care and training, including medical treatment, counseling, education, and skill development.

BIOPHYLLIC ARCHITECTURE
Biophilic design, which integrates natural elements into architecture, has been shown to positively impact human well-being. This approach is particularly beneficial for deaddiction and rehabilitation centers, as nature exposure can reduce stress, improve mental health, and aid in recovery from substance abuse. By incorporating natural landscapes, views, and elements into the design, these centers can create a more therapeutic and supportive environment for inmates

The admin block is the core of the whole project from where all user groups spaces converge.
The admin block consitutes the Admin spaces for both the Deaddiction & Rehab Centre and the Narcotics Police Department.
Attached seamlessly along the contour is an accessible research centre.

Upper building area constitues the medical, rehab, and empowerment centre. Lower building area constitues the Deaddiction and Admin Offices.

Inmate residential is layered to accentuate the site’s contour and topography play of volumes puts a positive impact on the inmates mental health.

SERENE LAGO
The Surrogate Client wanted a Weekend Getaway lake cottage embarking the scenaries it can grasp with a tinch of traditional architecture rooted in the outlook of the residence.
The cottage is meant to host a couple for a few days with minimal spaces and focus on a simple relaxation and privacy.

All spaces originate from the academic block and are well connected based on individual user group circulations. A sense of physical radial element has been profiled into the outdoor planning and interior floor detailing to bring sense of origin and direction.

As much as the built environment is important to the students, its as important to design mind happy work environments for the staff of all backgrounds from administration to Faculty to Housekeeping.

The mezzanine study area gives an overall glimpse of the library bringing out a sense of “ there is so much to explore “ instilling and bringing brighter minds.
Library block is the epitome of the Design school project.
The library had to be designed with atmost large volumes to incoporate better learning, maximum thermal comfort and variety of study areas both indoor and outdoor.
Jali based semi-buffer screens are provided for privacy and can also be used as presentation boards during jury and reviews.
