Shared Value
Food donations
Every year we establish new partnerships with food banks and associations in a joint effort to increase the impact and efficiency of the food products donations we make for the most vulnerable communities. Our goal is to donate 25,000 tons of food over the course of a decade. From 2015 to 2020 we contributed more than 18,000 tons, cumulatively equivalent to more than 150 million portions, keeping us on track to reach our goal.
CDP Supply Chain
We are members of the CDP Supply Chain. This initiative enables us to develop a new form of interaction with our strategic suppliers so that, together, we can continue to bolster sustainable practices in our supply chain. In 2021, we will initiate the participation process in the CDP survey for 50 suppliers of meat products, dairy ingredients, and packaging.
Sustainable procurement in Europe
In 2020, our Organizational Unit in Europe launched the first sustainable practices survey for its nonmeat supply chain. This exercise enabled us to better understand the social, environmental, health and safety, labor, and integrity practices of 300 of our suppliers. The first outcome of this exercise is that we granted recognition to the 25 suppliers who excelled in their responsible practices. We did this during an online event during which we also presented Sigma Europe’s Corporate Social Responsibility Plan and promoted collaborative efforts in sustainable development initiatives.
Excellent Customer Program
The Excellent Customer Program, implemented since 2014 in Mexico, promotes the development of our customers in the Traditional Channel through an added value offer, including equipment, service and recognition. More than 54,800 state-of-the-art refrigerators have been installed since 2014 to date in our customers’ stores that, in addition to modernizing the point of sale, ensures the availability of value products for the consumer.
