FROM THE CITY MANAGER

Santa Clarita Kings Day is Back!

By Ken Striplin

Santa Clarita City Manager

Nothing says winter sports more than the slap of a hockey puck, the roaring sound of 18,000 fans and the cool crisp air that hits your face as you walk into the Crypto.com Arena to enjoy a Los Angeles Kings hockey game.

After a two-year hiatus, I am excited to officially welcome back Santa Clarita Kings Day, an opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy a night out in Los Angeles, cheering on the Kings and spending time with friends and family.

As a hockey fan myself, I have always enjoyed the City events that break the boundaries of Santa Clarita, and allow our residents to gather together to cheer on our regional teams — much like the annual Dodger Day.

This year, I invite residents to don their favorite hockey jersey and come out on Saturday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m., to watch the Los Angeles Kings faceoff against the Carolina Hurricanes at the Crypto.com Arena in Downtown Los Angeles.

Ticket prices start from $37 in the 300 Level to $97 in the 100 Level. All tickets will be grouped to make sure Santa Clarita attendees can sit together and enjoy the game.

There are a limited amount of tickets, so make sure you get yours soon — and to make the game even more memorable, each attendee who purchases a ticket through the City will receive their own Santa Clarita Kings Day rally towel, courtesy of our featured sponsor, Henry Rodriguez of State Farm Insurance. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to cheer on the Kings while proudly waving our rally towel. If you would like to purchase tickets or learn more about Santa Clarita Kings Day, please visit city.sc/Kings.

This will also be the first year since the City of Santa Clarita bought The Cube – Ice and Entertainment Center | Powered by FivePoint, that we’ve officially partnered with the Los Angeles Kings to offer this event to our residents. We are proud to have such an inclusive and engaging organization like the Los Angeles Kings as collaborators and partners, both on and off the ice. The Kings, along with American Sports Entertainment Centers, are the operators of The Cube.

There will be more LA Kings fun in Santa Clarita, as their mascot Bailey and the Kings’ Crew will be part of our annual Light Up Main Street event on November 19. This kick-off to the holiday season draws thousands of residents to Old Town Newhall to watch as we illuminate holiday lights up and down Main Street. Bailey and the Kings’ Crew will also join in the fun at The Cube’s 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will take place on December 2, and offer residents the chance to get an exclusive sneak peek of the Holiday Skate Show.

I encourage you to get in the holiday spirit by taking part in Santa Clarita Kings Day, or by visiting The Cube for some winter ice skating. Happy Holidays!
