PREFACE
The Netherlands are in essence a large river estuary. Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt drain through the wetlands of the Low Countries into the North Sea. The dynamics of sea and rivers have been strictly limited over the years. Despite this, water determines the image of a large part of the Netherlands. And where there is water, there are birds. Many birds. The photos in this book show the birds of wetland Holland and the landscapes that they live in.
