DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS OF BIM

1-Dimensional BIM (DATA ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH) Research - Implementation Concept Design This is the starting point for any complex project where the site is surveyed for existing conditions, regulations are reviewed, the surrounding environment is observed for the implementation of BIM. Concept Designs are created and strategies are made to tackle the project.

3-DIMENSIONAL (COORDINATED MODEL) The most popular and adopted dimension of BIM. A reallife geographical 3-D model of your project is produced. The model in X - Y - Z plane is also known as the coordinated model as it contains all schematic and design information of your project and keeps all the stakeholders in the same loop resulting in efficient and streamlined construction process.

3D BIM

2-DIMENSIONAL (CAD DRAWINGS AND DRAFTING) After surveying the land and producing concept designs, CAD drawings of 2D X - and Y - axis are produced outlining the structural framework of the project. Also, this is where all building-related information like - materials energy loads - construction documentation sustainability strategies are produced.

CAD Drafting

4-DIMENSIONAL (SCHEDULING) The 3-D schematic model is combined with the fourth element Z (Time) helping stakeholders to pre-plan and systematically schedule their construction process minimizing time and increasing work efficiency.

4D BIM

5-DIMENSIONAL (COST ESTIMATION) This is 4D BIM + Estimate or cost. The function of 5D BIM modeling is to integrate cost, schedule, and designs ina 3D output. This model is charged with forecasting/predicting the flow of finance for a project and visualizing the progress they have made concerning the project.

5D BIM

6-DIMENSIONAL (PROJECT LIFECYCLE OR INTEGRATED BIM) BIM 6D modeling presents itself with the whole project's life cycle information and other relevant data that reinforces the project's sustainability, operations, and management for a future time. BIM 6D services give detailed information on the operational and economic aspects of the project. Certain structural documentation is also attached with the model for guidance on any future preventive maintenance.
