Adventure,

selected works

you say?

I want adventures. Come on, let’s go! The sun is ready to shine on us now! I’ve combed my hair and brushed my teeth. I even made the bed.

I run as a blast of wind hit my face and I realize I am still stuck in this small scale semi-industrial city that tries to disguise itself as a hip and upcoming location for design and technology. I run and realize there are not many places to run towards, because whether I like it or not, this is it for now. This is it. This white building in the center is the harem of my utopia and the beast of my nightmares.

4 years later. Still combing my hair, still making my bed, still looking for the sun. Still ready to run. Filled with experiences and explorations and colors and light that I have found in this beastly building. I’m ready for the sun! Let further explorations begin! My ambitions remain intact. Yes, I have learned and changed and grown and shed tears and sweat and love and hate over many cups of coffee and badly lit tables. My ambitions remain.

It’s adventure time.

Players can trade in personal information for money or power, and be able to manipulate and take advantage of other players by owning big companies that violate people’s rights.

A Book For the

This book is a gift for the new king, His Majesty Willem - Alexander of the Netherlands, for his 46th birthday on April 27th 2013.

Walking around the streets and corners of Eindhoven, I have asked passer byers this (among other things related to his birthday):

There are many opinions about monarchy in this country. Some people are very positive,

traditional

Cultural Creatives is a website that

encourages the use of local resources and asks its users to share knowledge

about materials and techniques. The aim is that designers and craftsmen

can browse through this “library for

inspiration on how to use local resources where they are in similar ways. This is a concept based assignment and a fictional website.

We wanted to design an easily reusable packaging of the product to encourage buyers to make their own

goods. The aim was to come up with an appealing but at the same time eco-wise packaging solution. Behind all the etiquettes you will find recipes and useful tips on how to do it yourself. The plastic moulds can be washed an re-used, and the rubber band ensures that there are no annoying stickers to remove from the maison jars.

To Put A Value On Time There are a lot of statistics on what we spend money on, and why. For some people, money is not a subject to discuss openly, and for others it gives a certain satisfaction to be able to show off what the extra money is spent on. For such people, social media portals are a

perfect platform, with images and simple status quotes that leave room to hide their

money flashing behind “accidental” photos and humoristic statuses.

I pulled out sentences posted on Twitter by setting up a code that selected certain tweets containing certain keywords - such as “money”, “stress”, “time”. The bubbles on the website grow as more tweets come in, and each group of keywords has their own color.

Tactile Representations of Data What started as a material exploration of wood

and shaping has inspired me to create physical objects that represent factual information.

By collecting data about people’s mobility in Cape Town and the time spent relocating during the course of a day or a week I aim to make sculptures that individually represents each participant in the research.

Executed in the workspace of Thingkings, a fantastic Cape Town product design studio.

Applicative Investigation of the Natural World. For this project we, a group of 4 students, researched dyeing methods with natural pigments and the process from dyeing to product.

2012

Our two research questions were as follows: How are natural pigments extracted and transformed into applicable substances? How far can we trace the process of product to pigment in two chosen Turkish crafts?

During our project we went to Istanbul to visit dyeing masters and the outcome was a film and a website sharing our thoughts and conclusions. This work was shown at the Designhuis in Eindhoven spring 2012.

No Money Fest Crisis strikes in an era of buy-and-throwaway mentality in a time when it’s cheaper

to purchase new items instead of fixing the broken. In “No Money Fest” Design Academy students

collaborate to organize an auction without the exchange of money. A window of opportunity was created by emphasizing on our nearby existing valuables like time, talents, skills, craftmanship, ideas and ideals.

This project is my passion, my hobby. I started it as part of a school assignment in 2010, got carried away and

have continued up until this day. The website has some thousand visitors monthly and I try to update it regularly. The theme of my cooking is “inspired by the Paleo way of ating- namely simple, unrefined and healthy. Nearly all the recipes are made by myself after trials and testings.
