From the evolutionary wonders of the Galápagos Islands to the enchanting glaciers and icebergs of the Arctic, our small ships get you closer to the authentic beauty that lies at the edges of the Earth. Here we are delighted to share highlights of our year-round 2024 expeditions in the Galápagos, a singularly unique destination explored on alternating 7-day western and northern routes that can be easily combined into one immersive 14-day experience. Farther north, our polar-class fleet navigates the icy realms of Svalbard, Iceland, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic Archipelago to reveal catch-your-breath grandeur during the brief summer thaw from June through September 2024.

GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS Travel back in time
Since Darwin’s five-week visit in 1835, this remote archipelago’s fascinating biological diversity has captivated the curiosity of travellers the world over. Join us to explore lava fields and saltwater lagoons, admire sea lions and blue-footed boobies, and swim alongside Pacific green turtles. Two distinct 7-day itineraries – one to the west where giant tortoises and land iguanas thrive; the other to the north where Galápagos penguins and lava lizards live – are easily combinable into one extraordinary 14-day expedition.
BARTOLOMÉ
RÁBIDA
Discover some of the most magnificent landscapes in the islands including the famous Pinnacle Rock. Snorkelling opportunities abound, and you’ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for the playful Galápagos penguin often spotted along the beach, perched on a rock or zooming underwater.
Darwin’s finches, lava lizards and Galápagos mockingbirds call this small and picturesque island home. Along the cliffs, the mix of red rocks, green Palo Santo trees and the turquoise sea below is exquisite. Snorkelling is a must with vibrant tropical fish and marine iguanas feeding underwater.
ESPAÑOLA
SAN CRISTÓBAL
At Punta Suárez, sheer cliffs provide superb thermals for seabirds. Swallow-tailed gulls, Nazca and blue-footed boobies can easily be seen, and the largest seabird to nest in the islands – the waved albatross – has made Española its home. You’ll also find mockingbirds, doves, and an occasional Galápagos hawk, along with sea lions and marine iguanas.
Easternmost Punta Pitt, in San Cristóbal, features a rare olivine beach where sea lions doze. Climb up a ravine and admire one of the most magnificent panoramas in the archipelago, as lava lizards watch on with interest. Be on the lookout for red- and blue-footed boobies, as well as both great and magnificent frigatebirds.
FERNANDINA
SANTA CRUZ
The largest colony of marine iguanas in the Galápagos can be seen sunning on the black lava shores of Punta Espinoza. One of the most pristine islands in the world, Fernandina hosts an impressive array of wildlife including sea lions, colourful Sally Lightfoot crabs and the rare endemic flightless cormorant.
The Galápagos National Park Service and the Charles Darwin Research Station are located in the small town of Puerto Ayora. Their flagship program is the restoration of Galápagos giant tortoises and at the centre, we’ll see both domeshaped and saddle-backed tortoises and their young.
FLOREANA
SANTIAGO
Floreana has been luring visitors since the 18th century when pirates sought shelter in its caves. Sailors established a rustic mailing system: a barrel nailed to a pole where they would drop letters hoping they would be delivered by other mariners sailing home. You can continue the tradition if you choose.
Beautiful Espumilla Beach is an important nesting site for the East Pacific green sea turtle. The island’s arid vegetation zone is home to the largest Palo Santo trees in the Galápagos, the perfect habitat for Darwin’s finches.
GENOVESA Dubbed ‘Bird Island,’ Genovesa is a birder’s paradise. Walk on the sandy beach amidst swallow-tailed gulls, yellow-crowned night herons and the largest nesting colony of red-footed boobies. Climb the “steps,” named after the Duke of Edinburgh, a visitor in 1965, and you will be thrilled by a large colony of great frigatebirds and Nazca boobies.
SEYMOUR NORTE Though just 1.9 square kilometres in size, North Seymour Island boasts a spectacular profusion of wildlife above and below the sea. The magnificent frigatebird is an opportunistic breeder, giving visitors the chance to witness courting makes displaying their bright red gular pouch. Marine iguanas and Galápagos land iguanas patrol the beach, while Galápagos sea lions snooze in the sand and brown noddy terns look for food in the shallows.
ISABELA Five majestic volcanoes pierce the arid landscape of the largest and youngest island in the Galápagos. Probably the best snorkelling in the islands is at Punta Vicente Roca, at the base of the collapsed Ecuador Volcano, where visitors can get a spectacular view of the caldera.

GALÁPAGOS – NORTHERN A frenzy of wildlife
Punta Suarez on Española Island is home to large colonies of blue-footed boobies
Sea lions. Lava lizards. The short-eared owl. Fearless as they are, the wildlife of the Galápagos will captivate all your senses. It’s a fascinating concept as you consider the range of islands explored on this expedition. Española is amongst the oldest of islands in all the Galápagos, estimated to be about 4 million years old and one of the only places on Earth to find the waved albatross. Fernandina, meanwhile, is one of the archipelago’s youngest isles, highly revered for its snorkelling and birdwatching. Through the course of this journey, you can see spectacular water-spouting “blowers,” climb the famed Prince Philip Steps, and learn about the history of these fascinating islands.
GALÁPAGOS — NORTHERN REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS • Snorkel with sea turtles in Fernandina • Meet the iconic Galápagos penguins in Isabela • Discover the ‘bird islands’ of Genovesa and Española • Watch for large male magnificent frigate birds inflating their vivid red gular sacs in North Seymour • Take part in off-the-beaten-path tours, one-of-a-kind adventures, and exclusive after-hours explorations

GALÁPAGOS – WESTERN Bountiful marine life
Pinnacle Rock stands sentinel over Sullivan Bay; Bartolomé Island
Lava fields. Tidal pools. Mangroves. Explore the wild landscapes of the Galápagos and see what Charles Darwin once saw: creatures unafraid of predators and open to human interaction. This expedition takes you to two of the archipelago’s biggest (and youngest) islands. At a mere 1 million years old, seahorse-shaped Isabela reigns as the largest and is known for having the world’s second-biggest active crater. Santa Cruz places second in size, but lays claim to the Charles Darwin Research Station as well as breeding centres for giant tortoises and land iguanas. Come swim with turtles and marvel at marine iguanas and Nazca boobies as you travel through the distant islands Darwin made famous.
GALÁPAGOS — WESTERN REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS • Marvel at Kicker Rock near San Cristóbal, the vertical remnant of a former tuff cone • Search for flightless cormorants and blue-footed boobies at Isabela’s Tagus Cove • Send a postcard from the Galápagos with a visit to Floreana’s Post Office Bay • Explore the Fausto Llerena Breeding Centre for giant tortoises and land iguanas • Take part in off-the-beaten-path tours, one-of-a-kind adventures, and exclusive after-hours explorations

Blanketed in uncompromised luxury aboard our state-of-the-art ships, you’ll find our brand of Far North exploration far more accommodating than that which Ross, Amundsen and Parry endured… yet no less exhilarating.
CANADIAN HIGH ARCTIC Far north of the Arctic Circle, little-explored Baffin Bay intrigues with awe-inspiring fjords, majestic icebergs and impressive glacial scenery. Nunavut welcomes with Inuit culture whilst myriad islands offer a range of discoveries, from the Martianlike landscape of Devon Island to the extraordinary wildlife of Pond Inlet.
FAROE ISLANDS In the volcanic 18 islands where sheep outnumber humans nearly 2:1 and comical puffins make their home, you’ll find epic adventure in an untouched Nordic paradise of rugged cliffs and narrow fjords, staggering waterfalls and lush valleys. Charming villages with friendly locals extend a heimablidni (warm welcome).
GREENLAND Eighty percent of the world’s largest island is covered by a massive ice sheet, second in size only to Antarctica. Awe-inspiring Greenland is known for its immense glaciers, dramatic fjords and magnificent wildlife. From whale watching and kayaking to discovering Erik the Red’s legacy, a wonderland of adventure awaits.

SVALBARD & ICELAND
Polar bears and geothermal wonders
Hiking in Iceland; photo by Steve McCurry for Silversea
From the “Land of Fire and Ice” to the” Land of the Polar Bear,” as Iceland and Svalbard are known respectively, Europe’s last great wildernesses await your discovery. Formed by volcanoes and settled by Vikings, Iceland is home to mesmerising lagoons and thundering waterfalls, astonishing fjords and exceptional wildlife (think thousands of puffins and thrilling whale-watching). Beyond the Arctic Circle, Svalbard’s frozen archipelago is a wonderland of vast mountains, icy desert, virgin tundra and huge glaciers. While the polar bear is king here, wildlife abounds from walruses and whales to seals and reindeer and massive bird colonies nesting on steep cliffs.
REGIONAL HIGHLIGHTS • Experience the geothermal baths at Iceland’s Lake Mývatn, and the surrounding hot springs, mud pots and fumaroles • Witness the thundering majesty of the Dynjandi Waterfall from Isafjörður in Iceland’s remote Westfjords • Explore Spitsbergen, Svalbard’s largest island, to see spectacular glaciers, dramatic fjords and important bird islands • Look for humpback and minke whales cavorting in the waters surrounding the volcanic island of Jan Mayen

Colourful houses dot the Longyearbyen landscape
DESTINATION SPOTLIGHT LONGYEARBYEN, SVALBARD, NORWAY The world’s northernmost permanently inhabited settlement – and the largest in Svalbard (home to ~2,100 residents and reindeer who sometimes like to walk through the centre of town) – Longyearbyen is nestled deep in the magnificent Adventfjord on Spitsbergen’s west coast. The colourful houses are built on pillars and their pipes are all above ground due to the permafrost. A visit to the Svalbard Museum here is worthy of your time, highlighting the region’s cultural and coal history.

ADVENTURES IN ELEGANCE Aboard our growing fleet
Silver Origin at home in the Galápagos; Santa Cruz Island
Every Silversea ship – Ocean-going and Expedition – welcomes you aboard with an ambience of whispered luxury and superlative comfort, inviting you to relax and savour an impeccably personalised experience. Even as we expand with industry-leading vessels, our all-suite ships remain intimate by deliberate design. Our smallest is the 100-guest Silver Origin, the first ultra-luxury ship purposebuilt to explore a singular destination – the Galápagos – whilst our sister-ship trio of Silver Muse, Silver Moon and Silver Dawn debuted some of our most innovative enrichment concepts for a heightened guest experience. The boldest is Silver Endeavour, the world’s most advanced and luxurious expedition ship, and the newest is our eco-friendly Silver Nova, soon to be joined by sister ship Silver Ray in 2024. Within the last few years, our growing fleet has seen the arrival of groundbreaking new ships or the extraordinary reimagination of existing vessels – ensuring that whichever ship or manner of travel appeals to your fancy, you’ll enjoy the sophisticated allure of a cosy boutique hotel, albeit enhanced with inspired dining, enriching experiences, and ever-changing views of our wonderful world.
