Cima Norma

A t e l i e r a n d H o u s e fo r a n a r t i s a n In this first Bachelor we were asked to work in Torre, a small village in Valle di Blenio, Switzerland, in particular, in a reality characterized by the spaces of the former chocolate factory Cima Norma, where the spaces have been re-adapted several times after the shut down of the factory. At first the design took place within the former factory spaces, trying to readjust them to new functions. Considering the artistic and handicraft aspects that have characterized the factory on several occasions, I decided to create a spacewhere a master glassmaker could live and work. Precisely because of the importance that covers the working temperature of the glass, the spaces were subdivided in such a way that the contrast between heat and cold was accentuated through two loggias bounded on the sides by sliding glass walls that allow to have an open space in the hottest periods.

BLUMER & FRIENDS

During those years we’ve worked with Riccardo Blumer, an italian designer. He guided us to find the relation between space, movment and time.

DIGITAL REPRESENTATION After designing a lighthouse and create the 3D model we had to render it in a different context. I’ve decided to represent the lighthouse in its real background, the fascinating island of Sachalin.

CONSTRUCTION SYSTEMS

The purpose of thi course was to prepare for a construction project and to trigger a conceptual reflection on it. We had to understand the changes made in a specific building, and to analyze the technical and conceptual features of the building. The subject of our work was Villa Bucerius in Locarno (1962-65), by architect Richard Neutra.
