RICHARD BRIDGE

SUPER YACHT CONSULTANT

WITH OVER 20 YEARS OF

COMMAND

EXPERIENCE IN BOTH LUXURY CRUISE AND SUPER YACHT SECTORS

Richard Bridge joined the British Merchant Navy after leaving school at 17, working on a variety of cargo ships as a cadet and junior officer before taking a position as navigator on a sail training ship. Progressing to passenger ships in 1991 he attained his Class 1 Master Mariner’s certificate in 1993 before sailing as Senior First Officer on Cunard’s QE2. Combining his experience of sailing and passenger ships he joined Windstar Cruises in 1997 and gained his first command at the age of 35 on the company’s MSY Wind Song.

Five years later, as super yachts increased in size, and required unlimited tonnage certification, Richard secured his first position on a superyacht taking command of the 126m MY “Octopus” for the final stages of the build. He went on to command some of the largest and most elite superyachts launched over the past 15 years (115m “Pelorus”, 162m “Eclipse”, 96m “Vava II”, 138m “Rising Sun”). He worked with helicopters, private jets and submersibles, as well as organising and overseeing operations at major events with VIP guests together with managing and motivating from 14 to 115 multi-national crew members.

During his time on superyachts he has explored the Indian Ocean, Indonesia, Australasia, South Pacific, Alaska, Patagonia and Antarctica as well as the more usual yachting destinations in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

In 2004 he coordinated and executed the project to find and film the wreck of a WW2 aircraft carrier at a depth of 1000m in the Mediterranean Sea, culminating in a 2-part BBC documentary.

His interests include snowboarding, competing in running and long distance cycling events and sailing his Oyster 435 whenever time permits.

RICHARD BRIDGE

DIRECTOR& EXPERT WITNESS

EXPERTWITNESS

PROVIDINGTECHNICALANALYSIS

RICHARD BRIDGE

With almost 40 years at sea and over 15 years in command of the most prestigious superyachts, Richard Bridge well understands both the needs of Yacht Owners and the challenges that Captains face and can provide valuable guidance and support in every situation.

As the newbuild Captain of both MY Octopus and Eclipse, both held the title of “largest yacht in the World” upon their deliveries in 2003 and 2010, respectively. Richard has also overseen extensive refits of MY Pelorus, Eclipse, VAVA II and Rising Sun.

Whilst yacht owners demand the very best, they also need value for money and complete financial transparency. We work closely with the Captain and Heads of Department to create annual budgets based on owners’ requirements and proposed itineraries to get an accurate picture. Financial reporting can be set up to mirror the owner’s other assets using similar software or using our systems which are set up to deliver a clear picture of the yacht’s costs and performance against budgets.

Bridge Yachting choose to work with Riela Yachts as ISM / ISPS managers. After experiencing various providers over the years, we have found them to be the most proactive and understanding

ANDREA DENBY HUNGARIAN-ENGLISH

Andrea Denby is a Hungarian-English interpreter and translator with over 18 years experience, and a Member of the Federation of Forensic and Expert Witnesses

Based in Suffolk, Andrea Denby is a Hungarian-English interpreter and translator with over 20 years experience.

"I have been working as a legal registered interpreter for almost ten years and have now completed over 2,000 hours of court, tribunal and police interpreting assignments. I have also been working with the Home Office on a freelance basis since 2003. I occasionally work in a community setting. I have a thorough academic education, having completed English and Hungarian undergraduate degrees in Budapest.

I used several languages and my own translations for a PhD thesis on a multi-lingual Hungarian author. This was completed at UCL in 2006. I studied English law part-time at the University of Westminster and at BPP until 2012. My legal education enables me to understand the context and background of what I translate, and makes me value precision in my work.

In 2016 I worked on several high-profile legal and financial translating projects which helped me develop my IT skills and use of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. My learning and experience enable me to produce translation to a high professional standard at an average of 3,000 words a day. On the 3rd of July 2017 I became chartered with the CIoL.

Over the past few years I have specialised in translating medical documents, and I also proofread medical reports, sometimes for legal purposes. I translate through agencies such as Absolute, Axis, Language Link Plus, UKLST, Translations in London, DAlanguages and PAB Languages, Transperfect, WITS, I have also joined AIT Association of Interpreters and Translators recently, I am also a member of the Police Approved Interpreters and Translators scheme.and work for private clients, too.

I have been teaching translation and interpreting since 2015. I teach DPI and DPSI law preparatory courses. I also assess translations on request and participate in examination procedures with IoLET.

I take part in continuous professional development, do short courses in specialised fields related to my work, compile my own medical glossaries and take part in meetings and conferences.

Mortgage lending, including first and second charge, and equity

Our Experience

After nearly 30 years in the industry we have seen many changes to how firms are regulated, how they are run and managed, and how their products have had to evolve to keep up with the changes in consumer use. Coming from a practitioner background we have developed methods of applying regulatory rules and guidelines but in a way that 'enables' not 'stifles' productivity, creativity and overall success.

Our areas of expertise revolve mainly around obtaining and or retaining FCA permissions in Consumer Credit, Lending, Mortgages, Debt Services, Motor Finance, Leasing and Hire.

Most importantly we do all this in Plain English.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

Types of ADR

The two most common types of ADR are mediation and expert determination. In both cases, a neutral third party is selected to help resolve the dispute. In general, mediation is a more informal process where the two parties work together to settle on mutually agreeable terms. The role of the mediator is not to judge the case, but to assist the parties in reaching a voluntary settlement.

Expert determination also involves a neutral third party, but in this case, the expert determiner will act alone to make a legally binding decision regarding the dispute. During the expert determination, the parties will make statements and submit evidence for review, but neither party is involved in the determination process.

How we can help

If you or your clients are struggling to conclude a financial dispute, it may be advantageous to appoint an independent third party to help you resolve the dispute.

Shaun Walbridge FCCA FAE is qualified to undertake both Mediation and Expert Determination, having trained with The Academy of Experts and has experience in providing commercial mediation and expert determinations that are final and legally binding on the parties.

Forensic accounting is the use of accounting skills to investigate fraud, and other irregularities hidden as financial transactions. In many cases, forensic accounting investigations are used in legal proceedings, but they are also used for compliance efforts and to prevent crimes, also can be use to access risk.

PeterConaghan

Whereas traditional accounting deals in the assessment of business funds and properly conveying information to investors and management, a forensic accountant is called upon to investigate the flow of funds through a business for the purpose of evaluating the paths they take and determine whether illegal transactions have occurred

RA forensic accountant investigates a wide range of different activities related to fraud that can take place within corporate, healthcare, property , mass marketing, hedge funds, and securities trading fields to mention a few. These professionals may also investigate other crimes such as contract disagreements, money laundering, bribery, and embezzlement While the duties of forensic accountants mainly lead them

TO INVESTIGATE AND ANALYZE, THEY MAY ALSO BE CALLED UPON TO SERVE AS EXPERT WITNESSES IN COURT.

There are instances in which the skills forensic accountants employ are used in more personal matters. In a dissolution of a marriage, for example, a forensic accountant will review the financial situations of both parties as well as their spending to advance the settlement process and to provide attorneys with accurate information to use in court. Forensic accountants are able to trace assets through investment accounts, and they can also identify hidden income or assets.

Importance of Forensic Accountant

As a modern discipline, forensic accounting is beginning to see many avenues for additional skills that go beyond accounting and finances. There is a greater need for knowledge of the legal process and information technology. Forensic accounting has seen increased demand because we have seen the emergence of hopeful entrepreneurs and business professionals setting up their own enterprises Each year, half a million startup companies are established startups, many of them with the intention of operating solely online. With the current reliance on internet technologies, the role of forensic accountants has expanded accordingly. Online financial transactions give prospective lawbreakers a false sense of security because they believe that they can easily conceal their tracks; nonetheless, sophisticated individuals can use the internet to obfuscate illegal transactions, and this is when the expertise of forensic accountants is called upon. With new technology, forensic accountants can sift through countless email messages and ledgers as they look for fraudulent activity, but in many cases, they must still sort through boxes of paper files. Often, employers will encourage obtaining the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credentials because of the technical knowledge it provides for carrying out investigations. With CFE credentials, forensic accountants have an advanced understanding of fraud and data analysis procedures that will aid them considerably in the search for criminal activity.
