Emmanuel Hospital Association celebrates 50 years
Founded in 1969, the Emmanuel Hospital Association in India recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
EHA’s leadership reached out to thank SIM for its “partnership and meaningful role in EHA, without which we would not have achieved what we have.”

The founding of EHA came at a time when western missionaries where being sent out of India, a reality we face today in many contexts. Yet this loss of outside leadership opened the door for Indian leaders to envision a federation of mission hospitals.
Over the past decades, EHA has become the largest Christian non-governmental provider of healthcare in India, with 20 hospitals and more than 40 community-based projects in 14 states of India.
SIM collaborates with EHA in the areas of people and finance, as EHA crosses barriers in the name of Christ.
EHA’s leaders have said, “We appreciate your commitment to EHA to enlarge our borders while engaging with marginalized people, in endeavouring to bring healing, hope and joy into their lives and communities.”
There are many opportunities to serve with EHA in very needy regions. A focus for a number of these roles would be on capacity building of Indian colleagues. Opportunities in many specialty areas are available.
