At the recent Royal Launceston Show the Simmental breed was the feature event to coincide with the 50 year celebrations of the breed. With a significant number and good quality representation of Simmental cattle, Mr Peter Cook of Barana Simmentals, Coolah NSW officiated. It was great to see all exhibitors rewarded for their efforts in preparing cattle for the show. Results as follows:

Simmentals were also well received in the interbreed with Summerhill Simmentals claiming 3rd place in the group of three and sires progeny classes, and Kidman Downs Simmentals winning Reserve Champion Senior Interbreed female with Woonallee Regal R399 and CAF Kidman Downs Truly Regal T14 (winner of Calf championship also). The Tasmanian branch of Simmental Australia also sponsored the Herdsman Prize, eligible for all juniors assisting, preparing and showing Simmental cattle throughout the duration of the show. The winner of this award received a free entry to the Tasmanian Junior Beef Expo, to be held in February 2023. It was great to see several juniors involved with promoting the breed, and we are very pleased to announce the winner is Jordan Burr.
