CRAIG MADER INSURANCE

Craig Mader & Performance Insurance, led by Dana Page, is an area standout, offering a tailored approach to insurance that resonates with their wide range of clients. With a vast history deeply rooted in the insurance industry, Dana has successfully merged two agencies to create a comprehensive operation that meets the evolving needs of her clientele.

The foundation of Craig Mader & Performance Insurance is built on the acquisition and integration of two established agencies. The Craig Mader Insurance Agency traces its roots back to 1970 when it was originally part of the Legg Agency in Annapolis, Maryland. Craig Mader, who began his career with the Legg Agency in 1984, eventually acquired it in 1988. Meanwhile, Performance Insurance Group was founded in 2008 by Edward Cooper. In recent years, as both owners prepared for retirement, Dana Page saw an opportunity to continue their legacies. She acquired both agencies, merged their operations, and streamlined them under one roof, creating Craig Mader & Performance Insurance. This strategic move came at a pivotal time, during the post-COVID-19 era when the Great Resignation was in full swing, making it an opportune moment for Dana to take the reins.

Before acquiring the agencies, Dana had a longstanding career with Erie Insurance, spanning over two decades. This extensive experience provided her with the industry knowledge needed to transition smoothly into ownership.

Craig Mader & Performance Insurance now serves a wide range of areas, offering a multitude of services. “We offer personal lines, that’s your auto, boat, home, life insurance, as well as commercial insurance, where we specialize in auto services, contractors, professional offices, restaurants, retailers, and wholesalers,” she says. The agency operates across several states including Maryland, DC, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and many more, ensuring that clients, even those who relocate, continue to receive their comprehensive service.

The agency’s primary clientele is diverse, making it possible to cater to a broad spectrum of needs. “Our primary clientele could be someone who just recently graduated college and is renting, or families, professionals, and business owners. We have multiple carriers that we write business through, so we can customize insurance coverages to meet any of our clients' needs based on their individual circumstances or situation,” she explains.

What truly sets Craig Mader & Performance Insurance apart is its dedication to exceptional customer service. Dana and her team are more than just insurance providers; they are advisors who take the time to understand their clients as well as their unique situations. “We don’t use a cookiecutter approach with our clients. Instead, we take our time, get to know our clients and their families, and provide coverages based on their needs,” she states. This commitment to personalized service is backed by a team with over 100 years of combined experience in the industry.

Dana’s passion for helping others is at the core of her work. “I love helping others, and the customer service part, I really enjoy working with people. I live by the golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated,” she shares. This philosophy

extends to her team, who are equally dedicated to providing exceptional service. “I owe so much to my team. They’re amazing, highly dedicated to providing our clients with the utmost customer service, day in and day out.”

With September being Life Insurance Awareness Month, Craig Mader & Performance Insurance hopes to remind readers of the importance of including life insurance in their financial planning. “Many individuals tend to delay getting life insurance because it is not mandatory like Auto or Home insurance, which are required if you have a lienholder or a mortgage. But if you purchase life insurance while you are young and healthy, you could secure low premiums and protect your future insurability,” she advises.

For those looking to experience the personalized service that Craig Mader & Performance Insurance offers, the team can be found at their office located at 1388 Defense Highway, Gambrills, Maryland. The agency is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. They can also be reached by phone at 410-721-2725 or online at https://www.maderperformanceinsurance.com/.

In the dynamic world of real estate, finding a professional who not only understands the market but also their customers can seem like an impossible task. Hailing from Montgomery, Alabama, LaKeesha Washington has brought her nearly two decades of real estate expertise to the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area, serving counties in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Though her background is in education, she noticed a gap in the real estate experience when she was trying to purchase her first home. She vowed to create a different narrative—one rooted in integrity and genuine care for her clients. “I didn’t want anybody else to experience what I experienced in real estate,” she said. With her roots firmly planted within Long & Foster Real Estate, her business grew through word of mouth, simply by providing the customer service she believes all clients deserve.

Whether one is looking to buy, sell, rent, or even invest, LaKeesha provides a multitude of services for clients in every walk of life. However, what sets her apart is her passion and skill when it comes to staging properties. She is a certified home stager, so her clients need no longer worry about the initial state of their home. Whether things need to be added, removed, or tweaked, LaKeesha has mastered the intricate art of making homes camera-ready. With this, she utilizes a professional photographer to make sure all angles are accounted for. “I typically tell people your pictures are the first showing of your home. When they make the appointment to see it in person, that’s the second showing,” she said. Some techniques she uses are keeping things clean, neutral, and pleasing to the eye to avoid overwhelming the buyer. To LaKeesha, it is important to “have enough furniture where they can still visualize themselves in it, but not too crowded - just to give them a good starting point.” Other factors such as natural light, windows, and furniture staging also play a large role in how she markets a home, ensuring that her properties stand out in such a competitive market.

Though the majority of her clientele tends to skew toward single black females followed by married couples, LaKeesha affirms that she is open and eager to help everyone. What sets her apart is her honesty and integrity in conducting real estate transactions. Though some may find realtors to be pushy toward a certain outcome, LaKeesha prefers to give her clients all of the information they need so they can make the most informed decision. “I pride myself on being honest. Sometimes it may take you a year to buy a house, and that’s okay,” she said. She would rather that than have any of her clients experience buyer’s remorse. “You just really want people to, you know, be happy, be excited about going into their home and not feel like they should have looked at more houses or that they jumped too soon. You never want that,” she said. Her approach isn’t just about closing deals; it’s about building lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor, LaKeesha Washington is your dedicated ally in the ever-changing real estate landscape. To begin this process, she encourages any and everyone looking to purchase a home to get pre-approved. By knowing a budget upfront, one can navigate the home-buying process with confidence.

RAYS TOUCH FURNITURE

Ray’s Touch Furniture is more than just a furniture business - it’s the culmination of Clivrett Harrison’s lifelong passion for woodworking. Starting his journey at just 15 years old in his birthplace of Jamaica, he brings a profound knowledge and expertise to his clients in the area. Whether it’s crafting custom cabinets or restoring well-loved furniture, Ray’s Touch Furniture is committed to delivering both quality and customer satisfaction.

After spending over a decade working for a overseeing woodworking projects for a different company, he decided that it was time to branch out on his own. This fundamental decision marked the beginning of Ray’s Touch Furniture, which is now about four years old. The business serves a diverse clientele, primarily homeowners and designers alike who seek custom-made pieces, such as unique tables and vanities or cabinetry. “If it’s wood, we do it,” Harrison states. Though they specialize in cabinetry, the company offers a wide array of services, including custom furniture and furniture restoration. Every item is unique, tailored specifically to the client’s space and style. The result is not just furniture, but a personalized addition to a home that reflects individual tastes and enhances living spaces. For those looking to revamp their kitchens, his team can even redesign already existing cabinets, offering them a cost-effective alternative to a full replacement. Ray’s Touch Furniture also provides countertop installation, offering quartz and granite options to complete the kitchen renovation experience.

What set’s Ray’s Touch Furniture apart is their all encompassing approach to renovation. “We’re like a one-stop shop,” he explains. “You come here, you get everything.” The business operates as such, providing across-the-board services that cover every phase of a project from inception to completion, eliminating the need for additional contractors. This approach is a rarity in the industry, especially here in the United States, where different trade specialists typically handle separate aspects of woodworking projects.

Another key facet that the company prides itself on is their astute dedication to customer satisfaction. “We’re very, very, very, very, very particular about customer service,” Harrison emphasizes. “We go up, over and beyond, to make sure that all our customers are satisfied.” This commitment to excellence in service is what makes them a standout choice all, whether one is a new homeowner or an experienced interior designer. “The type of service you get here is gonna be hard to find anywhere else.” he says.

Their showroom, which is a recent addition to

the business, offers clients a firsthand look at the quality and variety of work that is produced. It’s a space that allows customers to see, touch, and envision, and discuss how each piece could transform their home.

With a strong foundation in woodworking and a deep commitment to customer satisfaction, Ray’s Touch Furniture continues to grow and serve the community with the same passion and dedication that Clivrett Harrison has brought to his craft for decades.

LOVING HANDS PODIATRY

For Dr. Lavergne Andre, Loving Hands Podiatry is more than just a name. As a dedicated podiatrist of almost four decades, her innovative and personal model of care has touched many. Inspired by a course in her schooling that focused on community podiatry, she endeavored to pursue community-based care, foregoing the typical office life of a physician.

Through the years, Loving Hands Podiatry’s mission has remained clear: to keep people walking and comfortable. “Our goal is to keep people walking, or if they’re no longer walking, just to make them comfortable,” she says. As a onewoman operation, the practice handles a wide range of podiatric needs, from thick or ingrown toenails to bedsores.

While her practice caters to a broad age range, the elderly make up a significant portion of her patients. “Currently, my biggest clientele base are elderly people. I have seen people from a child that was one year old, all the way up to people that are 108,” she notes. Despite the focus on the elderly, she emphasizes that her services are for anyone. “When people hear house calls, they think, ‘Oh, I have to be elderly. I have to be bedridden. I have to be wheelchair-bound’ But no, that’s not the case,” she says.

Loving Hands Podiatry is also at the forefront of using advanced, non-invasive treatment techniques to manage conditions that can otherwise significantly impact quality of life. The practice offers innovative therapies like laser treatment for conditions such as neuropathy, a condition that can cause numbness, tingling, and even lead to serious injuries if left untreated. “Neuropathy is a condition in which the peripheral nerves, or the nerves that are on the skin, die, and a person is no longer able to feel where they are walking,” she explains. These laser treatments offer a safer and more effective solution.

One of the key differentiators of Loving Hands Podiatry is the time and attention given to each patient. “I’m not one of those people that goes in and spends 5, 10, minutes, 15 minutes on a patient. I make sure everything is done. I take my time. It’s whatever the patient wants done. I make sure that’s taken care of,” she emphasizes. “I make sure that when I leave, my patients not only feel better physically but also have peace of mind knowing that they’re receiving the best possible care,”

Her deep commitment to patient well-being is reflected in the name of her practice, which she proudly carries into every home she visits. “What I like is being able to allow people to feel better after I’ve taken care of them than when I first walk in,” she says. This dedication to patient satisfaction is what drew her to the field of podiatry in the first place. “90 to 95% of people will be happy after they have seen you. That was what did it for me,” she says.

Expanding on her mission, she recently began exploring corporate wellness initiatives. She describes this as “going into corporations or businesses that employ people that stand on their feet and just laser them for five minutes - a noninvasive treatment would be a great benefit for employers to offer their employees,” she explains. This innovative approach aims to keep employees healthy and reduce the need for time off due to foot-related issues.

For those in the Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, Maryland and Washington, D.C. areas seeking in-home podiatric care, Loving Hands Podiatry offers a direct and personal approach. Dr. Andre continues to set the standard for personalized, home-based care, helping patients feel better one visit at a time.
