TABLE OF CONTENTS Welcome to Simpson College. We’re glad you’ve joined us to cheer on the Storm football team at Buxton Stadium. This is an exciting time to be a part of the Simpson community. The campus landscape is changing, paving the way for the next chapter in the college’s storied history. The Blank Performing Arts Center renovation is complete, giving a shiny new home to the Simpson theater program and the nationallyrecognized Des Moines Metro Opera. On the North end of campus, construction is underway for the new 55,000 square foot and nearly $14 million Kent Campus Center, which is scheduled to be completed next fall. On the athletic front, the track and turf at Buxton Stadium was replaced in the summer, giving our student-athletes the benefit of competing on two of the finest surfaces in the Midwest. Inside Cowles Fieldhouse, our competition gymnasium received a facelift with the addition of a panel of photos recognizing the teams which compete in the venue and celebrating some of the finest student-athletes to step foot on our campus. Those individuals truly represent the championship tradition we have developed here at Simpson. While we seek to provide the best venues and facilities for our student-athletes, the Simpson Experience is about more than that. As a member of NCAA Division III and the Iowa Conference, we take great pride in developing student-athlete potential through a holistic educational approach that includes rigorous academics, competitive athletics and opportunity to pursue other interests and passions. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many academic and professional resources available to them right here on campus, as well as utilize our proximity to Des Moines to pursue jobs and internships. Thank you for joining us today. We hope you enjoy your piece of the Simpson Experience and visit us again soon. Go Storm! John Sirianni, Director of Athletics

hen Jim Glogowski came to Simpson in 2008, he brought a sense of excitement and enthusiasm to the school’s football program. Leading a passionate coaching staff, Glogowski has the pieces in place to bring the Storm back to the prominence. The 2011 season marks Glogowski’s fourth at Simpson. The 31st head coach in program history, Glogowski carries a record of 1218 after three seasons.
2007, Glogowski served as the team’s defensive coordinator, guiding Division II’s fifth-best run defense in 2006. Prior to joining the South Dakota staff, Glogowski was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Allegheny College (Pa.) from 200103. From 2000 to 2001, Glogowski was special teams coordinator and outside linebacker coach at Clarion University (Pa.). The seven wins marked the most by a Simpson first-year head coach since Lloyd Dean led Simpson to a 7-3 record in 1931, as Simpson posted the best total offense and total defense in the Iowa Conference. Glogowski led a young squad in 2010 and looks to build on the valuable experiences gained a year ago.
A four-year starter for the Coyotes at strong safety and linebacker, Glogowski earned Don Hansen Football Gazette All-America Honors in 1995 after a season in which he had 91 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 5.5 quarterback sacks and an interception. He was also voted the North Central Conference Most Valuable Defensive Back in 1995. He earned All-Conference honors in 1995 and was honorable mention All-Conference in 1993 and 1994.
Glogowski came to Simpson from the University of South Dakota, where he spent four seasons with the Coyotes. From 2006 to

The Kent Campus Center will house a coffee shop, alternative eating options, space for concerts, banquets, meetings and additional office space for campus departments, including the Center for Vocation and Integrative Learning. Construction is set to begin in Summer 2011 with an expected completion date of Fall 2012.

STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT Strength & Conditioning Simpson’s strength and conditioning program will be an important element in your athletic experience at the college. Simpson’s certified strength and conditioning staff will work with you to build a fitness plan that can reduce the risk of injury and improve your athletic performance. Athletic Training The athletic training staff at Simpson realizes that in order to have a successful season, the top priority for parents and coaches is the athlete’s health. The four certified athletic trainers on staff and their 30 students provide quality healthcare to over 500 athletes. BUILDING LEADERSHIP SKILLS NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Simpson is one of only two Division III schools in Iowa to participate in the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program. Some of the highlights of Simpson’s program include: • Academic assistance through study tables for firstyear students and tutors for individual subjects • Community service opportunities with the Special Olympics and other agencies that provide programming for students with special needs • Mentoring program that provides support for first-year students by pairing them with an upper-class student SAAC The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is one way for you to get involved in athletics beyond your sports team. As a SAAC member, you’ll be a part of a leadership group that provides a voice for student-athletes at the college and within the NCAA.

Playing at Simpson gives you access to some of the best athletic facilities in the Iowa Conference and the Midwest. New in 2011, Simpson replaced the track and turf inside Bill Buxton Stadium to provide studentathletes the opportunity to compete on the nation’s finest playing surfaces. Installed on the field was a FieldTurf Revolution playing surface, the first of its kind to appear in the Midwest. The track is a fullpour, 10-millimeter track from Beynon, the same surface found at the University of Iowa. Simpson’s main indoor facilities, the Carse Fitness Center and the Cowles Center, house a variety of different amenities for training, strength and conditioning and recreation. Simpson’s indoor facilities include a 5,000 square-foot weight room, a competition fieldhouse for basketball and volleyball, racquetball courts, a wrestling room, a 25-meter swimming pool, locker rooms and indoor batting cages. Other outdoor venues include Dick and Nancy Buxton Memorial Tennis Courts, McBride Baseball Field and the Simpson Softball Complex. Simpson’s golf teams practice and compete at the Indianola Country Club.
