In the past three years, Hansen has led Simpson to two of its best dual records in the past decade. The Storm won seven duals in 2014-15, the most for the program in nine years. Last year the Storm won six duals, giving Hansen the two winningest seasons of his career. Hansen coached his first NWCA nationallyranked wrestler in 2015-16, as 184-pounder Brett Roberts reached No. 8. Roberts and three other wrestlers broke into the D3wrestle.com Rankings during the season. Hansen came to Simpson from South Dakota State University, where he spent five seasons as an assistant coach for the Jackrabbits. A native of Gregory, South Dakota, Hansen was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American and the 2007 national champion at 125 pounds at Luther. He also won the Iowa Conference Championship at 125 in 2007 and was a two-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. In high school, Hansen was a three-time state champion. Hansen graduated from Luther in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education before earning a master’s in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from South Dakota State in 2009.
