Aniin!/Hello everyone!

My name is Willyssa and I am Anishinaabe (aka Ojibway/Chippewa) from Treaty 2 territory in Manitoba, Canada. My Anishinaabe name is Niizhobinens (Two Thunderbirds) and am from the Deer Clan. I am TwoSpirit, Non-Binary with no preferred pronouns. I’m a casual gamer, collector (dolls, comics, art supplies), and occasional artist. I do various administrative contracts as a profession and am a fur-parent to two cats and a dog.

I am sort of a newcomer to The Sims; I began playing The Sims 4 in 2017 and since then have racked up over 12,000 hours on this game. My play style varies and I have spent many hours building, creating Sims, and trying various gameplay and challenges. Learning to recolor and edit meshes to create my own custom content has really opened up my Sims gaming experience. I especially love to create groups of characters and pose them. Playing The Sims 4 has been truly therapeutic for me. As someone who also lives with a disability (or two), the game provides a creative and mental outlet for me; the hours/days quickly pass by when I’m really into the game and creating stuff, a feeling I think many of us know way too well!

Representation is very important to me being an indigenous person as well as being Two-Spirit and non-binary. I take pride in my culture and truly enjoy creating and including both Sims and CC that adds some of my culture and community to my game.

I do look forward to what more is in store for The Sims games in terms of representation, inclusiveness, and cultural diversity. I do hope that one day Indigenous American/Native American/First Nations cultures make it into the game as well.

Miigwetch/Thank You for this wonderful honour and experience. Happy Simming and a Happy Indigenous Peoples Heritage month to all my friends and relations in the USA!
