The Magic of
Christmas
Christmas is one of the most special times and that many anxiously await each year. On the streets you can feel a special atmosphere. Everything around us is joy and hope. In Sims Vita we want to express these feelings and emotions in the pages of this magazine, without forgetting that wow factor that we like to include. The spectacular cover that Beelz designed for this issue is nothing compared with what is in these pages... The beginning of a new year is always marked by the illusion of achieving new goals. 2015 was a year marked by many events that will go down in history, both in real life and in the Sim world. It was the year in which this magazine was released for the first time, and which has managed to launch eight issues. Eight very different magazines together with different themes and different partners, which made each issue a unique publication.

INTERVIEW ANTO WWW.COOLSIMS.NET/ BY ALFONSO

I N T E R V I E W
ANTO
How did you discover The Sims and when did you start playing? The Sims discovered as a child, about the age of 7, in a friend’s house. I used to go to her house just to play since at that time I had no computer at home. I enjoyed the game so much that my father for my First Communion gave me my first PC with The Sims. What motivated you to create custom content? It was not until the arrival of The Sims 2 when I considered creating my own content, as in The Sims (1) I didn’t know it existed until the end of the saga. From an early age I’ve loved crafts, whatever involves creating, fiddling, going as far as breaking everything I touch and then trying to repair it (not always went well lol) made me apply that need into the game. What I liked the least about the game was the hair, and I decided to learn how to create my own one, although that wasn’t everything I did. I wanted to do my own thing, I tried making other types of CC, but it was the hair that I liked the most because it was starting completely from scratch, where the head of Sim was my canvas and I was the owner of that creation. How did you enter the world of CC and how do you remember your first steps? When I started to create my own CC I was about 12 years old. At first it was quite difficult, since at that time almost all tutorials to create hairstyles for The Sims were in English, and I was not very advanced in the language, and the tutorials seemed to me quite complex, until one day I found one in which everything was explained with enough images, step by step on how to create a .package hairstyle. I never had a tutorial to learn to make hair specifically, only on how to create the type of file the game could recognize. Nor I had anyone who could help me, so I had to sort myself out in all aspects.
At first, I have to say that my hair was very very ugly, it was like putting Sims a trampled wig, but I kept going. I think that’s the key, not only with the hairstyles of The Sims, but with everything. Be consistent, practice, and finish everything you start. You just have to see the first hairstyles of The Sims 2 that I have in my website (and those were the first started publishing on the site). How long usually takes to load a hair? What is the hardest part of the creation process? I can usually take between 2-3 days to a week, depending on the complexity of the hairstyle, although due to university the days can increase. As for the difficulty of making hairstyles... I think it’s getting started, until you have a modeling piece is difficult to see if the proportions are correct, and often is like groping in the dark,
65
you have to make many changes, and quite small ones until the correct shape is achieved. Once you have the base of the hair I find the process quite fluid. How would you motivate others who are thinking about entering the world of CC? If you are creative, I think it’s great to make CC. You can do pretty much what you set out to do, from 3D textures, mods, houses, Sims, etc. Plus it helps to develop skills
66
with other programs of 2D / 3D design that can be very useful in the future. I must say, the most important thing is to be persistent. It is difficult at first, you’ll get confused and won’t like the results, but you must try again and again until you finally get what you want.
What is your favorite game of the series and what you think about The Sims 4? Without a doubt The Sims 2. It was the game in which I spent all my childhood, I learned to make CC, and which I was more excited with the release of each expansion. Each EP brought many elements to the game, and the textures were large enough so that they saw sharp in the game, although I think that it is more an opinion as a creator. If I had to choose for the gameplay, I think I would choose The Sims 3. As for The Sims 4, honestly, I don’t like it. It seems an unfinished game at an excessive price, with tiny tex-
tures for the dates we are in, and with a huge lack of features compared to its predecessors, besides that cartoon style.
What other hobbies do you have besides The Sims? Well, apart from The Sims, in terms of videogames, I’m a big fan of Assassin’s Creed and any game that has an important history. I love games that are virtually movies, rather than shooters without any plot.
And finally, travelling. I think that’s what I most like, discovering new places, new cultures, visiting cities full of stories. I would like to have more time to see more places, especially if they are cultural. I love old buildings, or cities with many historical architectural works, so I hope to have time to enjoy all those places in a few years when I finish my university degree.
I also love music, rare day is the day when I am not throwing a party with my headphones (I’m sure I’ll be deaf if I keep like this hahahaha).
