Park territory size: 1102 ha Marine protected area: 23290 ha The name Cahuita comes from the words “Kawe” which means “Sangrillo” (a tree from the area) and “Ta” which means “Cape”, so “Cape Sangrillo”.

Terrestrial Fauna: Ccongo monkey, white –faced monkey, sloth, coatimundi, toucan, trogons, night heron, eyelash viper, gavilán cangrejero, basiliscos.

Los Colares Trail closes at 2:00 p.m.
8.3 km (5.2 mi) along the seashore allow access to the beach and are used by those who like to walk while enjoying the landscape and biodiversity.

Fauna marina: Coral cerebriforme, coral cuernos de alce, abanico de mar, pez ángel francés, pez ángel reina, pez Isabela, pepino de mar, langostas, tortugas y peces de coral.
El nombre Cahuita viene de los términos “Kawe” que significa “Sangrillo” (árbol de la zona) y “Ta” que significa “Punta”, es decir “Punta Sangrillo”.

El Parque Nacional Cahuita es un ejemplo de la unión de esfuerzos entre la comunidad y el Sistema Nacional de Áreas de Conservación donde se trabaja en conjunto para el rescate cultural y conservación de la naturaleza pensando en las futuras generaciones.
Mono congo, mono carablanca, oso perezoso, pizote, tucán, trogón, garza nocturna, serpiente oropel, gavilán cangrejero, basiliscos.
Horario de atención para visitantes: Lunes a domingo 8am – 4pm (Sector Puerto Vargas) Lunes a domingo 7am – 5pm (Sector Playa Blanca) El sendero los colares cierra a las 2:00 p.m.
Senderos paralelos Con 8.3 Km de longitud sobre la costa que permiten ingresar a la playa y es utilizado por personas que les gusta caminar para observar el paisaje y aspectos de la biodiversidad.
310 especies de plantas:
Cativo, sangrillo, gavilán, mangle, chaperno, yolillo, cedro maría, guaitil, almendro de playa.
