Started by three brothers John, William and Thomas, the Loake family business has been making traditional shoes since 1880. Today, 140 years later, the association with fine handmade footwear lives on. The Goodyear Welted construction for which we are renowned is an intricate process with each pair taking up to eight weeks to complete. We estimate that over 50 million pairs of Loake Goodyear welted boots and shoes have been produced since we began. We still believe that there is no finer way to make a gentlemanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s shoe and only the very best materials and highest levels of skill are used. We now sell our shoes in over 60 countries and have become a firm favourite with discerning customers worldwide. Alongside our English Goodyear Welted footwear we also design and produce ranges of shoes outside the UK using a variety of constructions and this enables us to offer a complete wardrobe of shoes suitable for almost any occasion. As fifth generation, I am proud to continue the tradition that my forefathers worked so hard to establish and that our premium grade Goodyear welted shoes are still made in the same Kettering Factory which the three brothers built in 1894. Our aim is simply to make the most handsome, comfortable and durable shoes that we can and to make them affordable and available to everyone. Our history and heritage are valuable assets that define our identity and should be viewed with respect. With them comes a duty to pass on the traditional skills, knowledge and experience so that further generations can continue to produce some of the finest footwear available.

Combining bench-made shoemaking techniques with the highest quality materials, this is a collection to which many shoemakers can only aspire. Loake1880 shoes are examples of Goodyear welted footwear at its finest and are made in our Northamptonshire factory.
