Dear Company Partner: Once again Royal Isabela will host the El Pas llo Golf Classic to benefit El Pas llo Conserva on Trust. The mission of that trust is to preserve the unique ecosystem found at El Pas llo Beach and its surrounding cliffs. The Conserva on Trust Pas llo has been achieved through research and study of the species, the progress of na ve species, in addi on to promo ng the conserva on and preserva on in the communi es. An impressive variety of species live in the area, including several registered endangered. They have also developed very successfully therapeu c programs for children with au sm using the natural environment. Future projects include crea ng educa onal events about the nature and the species that exist in El Pas llo, therapies and research programs for condi ons such as au sm, among others, that benefit our communi es, Puerto Rico and the world. El Pas llo Conserva on Trust protects and studies more than 160 species, 3 of which are endangered. The Trust is custodian of this priceless resource, which encompasses cliffs, dunes, wetlands, caves, and its na ve flora and fauna. The Trust focus is on five ini a ves: (1) protec on, (2) conserva on, (3) restora on, (4) educa on and (5) research. Atlantea Tulita

A common species in El Pastillo Conservation Trust. Three know population, Quebradillas, Isabela and Maricao. It is the only invertebrate species listed as endangered in Puerto Rico. Eggs laying and larva development is limited to the only host plant, Oplonia spinosa. The genus is endemic to the Greater Antilles.

El Pastillo Beach is the nesting habitat for the endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle. With its distinctive leather-looking shell, the Dermochelys coriacea seeks isolated beaches for laying its eggs. Through our monitoring program, we have been able to increase hatching success to 89%, surpassing the average of 65% on other beaches that also have good conditions for nesting.
