MCKENNAN PARK BAND SHELL | #135000 Opera South Dakota with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is proud to present an operatic version of the story of Goldilock and the Three Bears based on scenes from the operas by W. A. Mozart and J. Offenbach. Goldie B. Locks doesn’t just like bugs, she loves them. When a beautiful butterfly flutters off into the woods, she chases it, forgetting a promise made to her mom to stay close to home. BARE BODKINS PRESENTS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING FREE
QUEEN BEE MILL AT FALLS PARK | #135002 After the success of our 22nd season production of The Comedy of Errors, we are excited to offer audiences another of Shakespeare’s most crowd-pleasing comedies: Much Ado About Nothing. A Shakespearean romantic comedy full of exciting twists, Much Ado About Nothing centers around sworn enemies Beatrice and Benedick, two people who vow to avoid marriage at all costs. While Beatrice and Benedick hilariously spar with one another in a battle of wits, their friends have other ideas and conspire to trick Beatrice and Benedick into falling in love with each other! NATIONAL PARK AND RECREATION MONTH
#OurParkAndRecStory
Every person has a park story. Every park has a history made up of thousands of stories that help to define it. This July, let’s tell our park and recreation story.
Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories — moments that park and recreation professionals help make happen. Our local parks are often our first experiences in nature, our introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity. They are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life’s special moments, spots of respite and healing, sites that connect us with essential community services, and so much more. Local parks have been essential throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with many of your community members finding a new appreciation for the essential spaces you manage and vital programs you provide. This year for Park and Recreation Month, we want to hear your stories about what your local parks and recreation means to you.
This year’s theme for Park and Recreation Month is “Our Park and Recreation Story,” and we want to highlight the stories of how our community is more strong, vibrant and resilient because of parks and recreation. Be sure to follow along and we encourage you to share your park and recreation stories on social media using #OurParkAndRecStory and #SiouxFallsParks.
